To Snorkel...or not to Snorkel....

Thinking of just some minor mods to get my feet wet....thinking Snorkel and K & N.....should I not ever bother.... what cha think for increase...around 10-15 hp?

Also thinking of going pulley without chip (noob still having warranty anxiety).
Is the EVO pulley a lot different looking than stock....wondering if tech would spot it a mile off.

Last thing....last thread I searched said S55 snorkel is the one for 03 W211....true or untrue....

Thanks guys...

Being supercharged I wouldn't think that a K and N would help that much. I know that NA motors can be improved by less hinderance to flow but with 12.5 pounds of boost I would think the effect is neglible. Anybody out there put these on a flow bench?

A much discussed topic. I'm having "warranty anxiety" as we speak. My car is in the shop for the "stalling" issue (not associated with my Renntech upgrade as the car was dying before I did the upgrade). I spoke to my SA and he didn't seem to make a big deal about it. Also told the foreman who will be working the rigional MB tech on my car. He seemed a little nervous about what the reg. tech would say. thought I should tell them as I'm sure they will re-flash my ECU which will wipe out my Renntech. The ECU will have to go back to Renntech which they will re-program.

As far as the pulley being spotted. I don't think under normal service visits they will spot it. I don't think the Renntech says anything on it. I think the Kleemann pulley says "kleemann".

Your best bet is to talk to your SA and try to feel him out. Every dealer is different. Alos, remember that the dealer has to prove that if there is a problem they have to prove that the upgrade contributed to the failure.

If I were you I would maybe think about the AMG LSD and wait for an upgrade that deals with the heat soak issue instead of pulley and ECU.

The Renntech pulley does say Renntech on it. It can be seen from above on the pulley if the pulley happens to stop at just the right position.

I don't know about the e55 but K+N filters were tested on the S4 and compared to the stock filters-Absolutely no difference in air flow. Changing pulleys to increase boost also increases heat and the e55 already suffers from too much heat. I would do something to address the heat issue first.

Honesltly...I think I am finally talked into it....gonna wait for the LSD and go for it. Bet it will do lots for times.

I get worried about the 30% lockup numbers, but if AMG says it's cool, that is fine with me. Anyone that can crank out more torque than a 70 SS Chevelle with tiny motor like ours is all right with me.
