Took a chance and told dealer about Renntech upgrades
Well, this was last Friday and did not hear a word until this afternoon. I figured if I hadn't heard from them my warranty should be safe! Went to pick it up and spoke to the foreman. They replaced the crank sensor and we'll hope that solves the problem.
I thanked the foreman and he turned to walk away. He stopped and said "oh yeah, the tech wanted me to thank you for him, he really appreciates that you were upfront about the mods. We hate it when people try to hide it"
In this case, honesty was the best policy
My dealer actually offers the Renntech ECU/pulley upgrade as an aftermarket accessory upgrade, with warranty. The latter supposedly matches the factory warranty. OTOH, they aren't listed as an official Renntech installer, so perhaps the matter is academic. It's just one of many options I'm considering - haven't read the fine print yet.
I had this problem with an Audi friend of mine, who took his car to the dealership and tried to tell him his reverse synchro going bad had something to do with the chip he had, which is absolute rubbish. Needless to say it got fixed without problems once I helped him out a bit and he knew that there's no way one had anything to do with the other.

Plus it is kind of hard to hide things from good tech's.
