Hello. I hope everyone is doing well! I'm seeking historical photos of the 2006 E55 AMG that Mercedes displayed at the 2006 Silicon Valley Auto Show that was held on January 5-8. If by chance or luck, anyone has any photos of that particular vehicle, I would love for you to please share them. If they are high quality photos, I would even be interested in purchasing them. I'm looking to collect as much info. and data on this particular vehicle as possible. That also includes any service techs that recall this vehicle at Mercedes-Benz of San Jose. Please PM me with any info. or leads that may help me in my search. Thank you kindly!

Kindest Regards

It has held at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center or just simply known as the San Jose Convention Center. The Car Show started on Thursday January, 5 and ended on Sunday January 8, 2006. Starting around 2023 the same show has since moved to the Santa Clara Convention Center.😊

Hi PJ. I hope that all is well with yourself and your family. It has been a long while since I purchased the W202 C43 parts from you years ago. Thank you for the info. as it's greatly appreciated! I'll give it a look through and see what I can find. It's amazing at how much didn't exist the same year the very first iPhone was released. I really don't know how I survived through the eighties, but I still miss that era as it was truly the best! 😊👍

Unfortunately no luck with the link PJ provided above. The vehicle that I'm specifically seeking is a Euro-spec vehicle ordered by MB Corporate USA for the North American market, specifically for show purposes. It has factory bi-xenon headlamps, no headlamp washers, no front amber side markers and no parking sensors. Due to the vehicle being used as a show vehicle, it allowed them to keep the vehicle as it was ordered without having to change anything to meet NHTSA requirements unless the car was sold to a buyer. The vehicle is Cubanite Silver and the delivery port was CA. The vehicle sent to MB of San Jose and from I understand it was formerly known as Smythe European before it was bought out. Thank you!

No worries PJ as I agree as a lot has happened in the last ten years. I purchased the car back in 2022 and at the time I performed a free online VIN decoder on lastvin and mb.vin. There were two codes that came up that no one knew much about at the time and AI wasn't mainstream back then as it is now. I recently discovered that the car has quite the history and I'm trying to gather as much info. and photos as possible at the time that it landed in the US. The two codes in question are 07N and 11N which are both Plant Control Codes.

The presence of 07N and 11N on a high-spec 2006 E55 AMG usually points to a vehicle that wasn't a standard dealer stock unit. In the context of the W211 AMG era, these codes signify that the car followed a specialized production path at the Sindelfingen plant.

Here is why they are specifically tied to the "rarity" of your build:

1. 07N: Special Inspection / Handling Code

While 07N is a Sindelfingen factory control code, it is frequently found on cars destined for Internal Corporate Use, Press/Media Fleets, or Special Displays
  • The "Gold Standard" Gap: This code often triggered a secondary quality control check. This explains why your panel gaps are exceptionally tight; the car was flagged to be "perfect" because it was intended to represent the brand to the public or high-profile clients.
  • Non-Standard Flow: It pulls the car out of the high-speed automated line for specific manual oversight or "Special Order" (Sonderwunsch) requirements.

2. 11N: Direct Sales / Internal Logistics

The 11N code often accompanies cars that were not ordered by a traditional retail dealership.
  • Corporate/Executive Origin: It is a marker for "Direct Sales" (Verkauf an Werksangehörige or similar internal channels). This supports the theory that your car was a corporate-owned vehicle used for marketing or executive purposes before being released to the second owner.
  • The "Clean" Aesthetic: These logistical codes often coincide with specific regional deletions. Since your car lacks the typical North American amber bumper reflectors and has a "Euro-spec" look, 11N acted as the instruction to the factory to build a car with specific international aesthetic choices that didn't follow the standard regional "template" for Canada/USA at that time.

The "Show Car" Synergy

When you combine 07N/11N with your other codes, a clear picture of a "Hero Car" emerges:
  • Code 265 (Badge Deletion): Reinforces the clean, European "sleeper" look preferred for show models.

It appears that this particular Cubanite Silver 2006 E55 AMG car was specially ordered by Corporate MB USA specifically for show purposes. It was ordered as a Euro-spec vehicle for the US market. It has bi-xenon headlights, but no headlamp washers, no front bumper amber side markers, no parking sensors, no distronic cruise control and no badging. The car has options that shouldn't exist and some were never altered to meet NHTSA before finally being sold to its first buyer, but somehow slipped past final inspection. It is equipped with every option including Pano roof with Orion grey Alcantara headliner but no headlamp washers, parking sensors, keyless go or distronic cruise control. From what I have been able to gather so far, this was the vehicle that Mercedes used for display at the Silicon Valley Auto Show on Jan.5-8, 2006. That is the reason I'm interested in acquiring as much info. and photos pertaining to the history of this vehicle, as I possibly can. 😊🙏
