12 ish mpg in the city and 16 - 19 hwy depending.

The car is a blast to drive. On a day when the air is cool and the engine has yet to fully warm up, you can jump on it w/out traction control and SMOKE the tires. It's freakin' silly. All my buddies that I take for a ride think I'm psycho and should enter the car in the NASCAR circuit. If you can find slippery smooth black asphalt you can produce a WWII Normandy Invasion Naval Beach Assault Smoke Screen about an 1/8 of a mile long that is as thick as cotton in Southern Georgia.

How do you like the kleemann lsd? Also, planning on taking it to the track anytime soon? Curious to see how much improvements on the 1/4 mile. Otherwise, great mods and hope to follow your suit soon.

LSD really pulls things together. The guys at Kleeman HIGHLY suggested this as the ole' "too much hp and not enough traction" thing comes into play.

I'm looking forward to some track efforts at Indianapolis Raceway Park (not the 500 track).

Also, a forum member sent me on of those trick G meters to measure 0-60, etc. and we have yet to have a dry day in Indy to test it out. More info to come.

Does anyone know where one could attempt a top speed run? I've read posts about Bonneville which state that you need a roll cage (not happening).

Thanks

You are RIGHT! I'm not sure why I said CL. I guess it was a slip of the keyboard.

Never the less, Gid_E_Up, you're still old and fat in my eyes

Dear Ricky, One day you will be sitting across from an old fat guy like me asking for a job and then we will see who laughs last. Something to think about.

Something.

Hopefully I can get some kinda summer job advertising for Kleemann though.

Do you think they'd let your car in the Indy 500?

Vic,

Under 13 K with install and dyno tweaking. If you drive your car to Colorado Springs and/or have it trailered, there is a installation discount that adds up. One huge benefit of doing this is you get to talk to Brandon and Cory and I'll bet that you'll increase your knowledge of your car 3 fold. These guys are very sharp and like to answer your questions. If you like to ski, head on out, get in a few days of schoosing, pick up your new supercar mercedes and head home with a few bucks in your pocket and lots of premium supertuner knowledge in your head.

Do they have a couch at their install site?

Heck, I'd sleep on the couch if they'd teach me. Knowledge is priceless!

Ricky,

If you're serious, call Kleemann and ask to talk with Cory. Cory is a young guy (I peg him for mid-late twenties) and came up through the ranks and would have some good info on his career path that I'm sure he would share. If you had housing for the summer, I would'nt be surprised if you could work the summer job thing/and or do some kind of internship. One suggestion---try to start at the bottom for whatever you do. There is an incredible amount of knowledge and experience that can be gained when one comes from the bottom up. Take it from me.

Very nice writeup, sometimes the lastest crop of AMG / 600 / 65 models from M/B really dumbfound me. I was just reading a old issue of C&D today and there was a comparo of the E55 / Quattroporte / XJR. When you look at the STOCK spec sheet for a E55, you scratch your head, like "4door 4,000+ lb car does 12.5 in the 1/4 STOCK??" LOL Just insane power.

I couldnt even imagine MODDING a 55, but I also know what they say about the corrupting propensity of POWER!!! LOL

That's a Nice ride you've got there.. I've discovered that modifying an E55 is so damn easy. Pulley, ECU and Headers = 100 hp. Simple enough.

When I was in Colorado Springs that was a W211 motor in a crate that some old boy bought up in Canada and shipped to Kleeman. Plans are to push the displacement and put a Kleemann supercharger on it--much more efficient and makes gobs more power. When this old boy does this, he'll have the bragging rights in North America. Can't remember what he was going to put it in. Can you say traction problems?

Eric - Very nice to see that your car is on the Kleemann site - thanks for taking the time and money to mod your AMG and reporting on it so that it helps us make decisions for our AMGs!

There is no other place to start at! I just have to get my schedule for the summer sorted out, we have Subway conventions, SAT's, and then I think I might take govt/eco over the summer.

BTW, you just proved my point about being old

Thanks, appreciate it big time. Lately I have such a thing for M/B's, the affection changes from W215 to W220 to W211 AMG almost daily! LOL

Neo,

You know it was one of those things where I personally had to search all of this dang site to try to find answers and I was thinking to myself "what kind of information are other people looking for". Ideally, these sites are better organized into something like this that would make it easier to categorize info:

W211
W211, Performance/Mods
W211, Glitches and Problems
W211, Tires and Wheels
etc......

That way you could narrow it down quite a bit more and wouldn't have to hunt for your info as much (by the magnitude of the number of categories out there).

I've been talking to Brandon at Kleemann and we are throwing around a bunch of marketing ideas. I'll start a new thread and I'd appreciate your two cents worth.

Eric
