F'in rock chips!! Got a big one today..GRRRRRR

How much a windshield gonna cost me from Benz....should I even think of going to another place to get a windshield. I guess I won't get the pretty made by Benz sticker if I do that huh? Gonna try to get it patched, but if it's too butt ugly, it's gone.

Thanks for any info.

Grrrrrrrr!!!!

I'm in the same boat... Got hit with a big rock or something at highway speed in the fall of 2004. It put 2 nice cross-haired cracks in the windshield. I left it over winter because I figured it would take abuse in the winter, so I was going to call and get a quote on replacing it when the weather warmed up.

Hopefully it wont cost as much as the car.

You may want to check with your insurance company. A lot of them have special disclaimers when it comes to the windshield where it does count as an "official" claim against you. Otherwise, I saw a quote of about $750 from some place online (not an MB dealer). Hope it helps a bit.

I have had windshields replaced in other vehicles and insurance covered almost all of it with little or no deductible. I think most insurance companies cover windshields under a different set of rules. Mine did not get classified as a claim that would cause my insurance to increase like if I had an accident or was victim of vandalism. You should give a call.

Thanks for the post. I thought I was the only one with such bad luck. Can you believe the exact same thing happend to me today on my ride in to work. I was so pissed when I saw the crack in the glass. Luckliy I have glass insurance which covers it with no deductible. Check with your agent, you probably have it as well because it only adds an extra couple bucks a month to your premium. The only silver lining to my story is another rock hit my front but I have the 3M clear coat bra which did the trick. Not a scratch.

Cool, I'll have to check on the bra.

Any insurance guys on the forum? I am with Allstate and went 0 deduct for just this reason....just wondering if it will count as an "incident"...I have a perfect record so far.

Thanks again for all the info.

Seems a few beasts have befallen the same fate..

I will replace it once the warm weather comes. I guess I should call my insurance agent and find out what the procedure is for this type of claim.

Thanks guys!

Try living in the desert like Las Vegas. Rock chip either on your windshield or your front end is common here, especially with all the new construction going on.

Have a few on the front of my ride also. That's just part of having such a great car to drive daily. I usually touch them up and get them looking back to 80% of original after I work on them for a while.

Just got it repaired today...pretty cool how far they have some with this stuff.

Original chip was bout pea sized...not just a few mm nick. Good enough for now....why....cause I'm goin Kleeman Stage 2 with L S D this weekend baby... Y E A H !!!!!

Wild story.....the guy who invented this process (resin injection to stop window crack) sold the patent for a few hundred thousand...the company that bought it....worldwide sales now approaching 100 million....yikes.

FWIW You have to specify 0% deductable for glass on you insurance policy. We moved from WA to AZ and found out the hard way when a rock broke my the $2200 windshield on my Z06. Then I found out that almost everyone in AZ gets the 0-deductable glass policy ...we changed.

As for the M-B decal, we had a windshield replaced on an E320 and got the decal from the glass co.

With our insurance co. the deductible can't be different for glass than for collision, etc.
