Exclamation New AMG Flat Badge now available-WHITE STAR Flat Badges Back in Production

I have resumed production of WHITE STAR Flat Badges. In addition, to address numerous requests, I have also designed a second badge,
an AMG Flat Badge.

Both flat badges are handmade from a genuine Mercedes upright hood ornament, part 210 880 01 86, using the original mount of the OEM part. So, they will fit all cars using this part: C-Class Sedans (only) 1995-present (W202, W203, W204 Sport or Luxury); E-Class 1995-present (W210, W211, W212); S-Class 1995-present (W220, W221), and CLK 1998-2002 (W208). These badges will NOT fit cars not designed to use the Original upright hood ornament, such as the W204 C63 AMG or the W203 Coupe.

Of course, the new AMG Flat Badge appropriately fits ALL AMG variants of cars above. The AMG badge offers enough contrast that it can also be used on cars with the tri-star badge on the grille, thus avoiding the “double badge” duplicate star issue on the newest car models.

The following picture (to right) shows the mount and lock of these badges, used without alteration from the original upright star. This ensures that your replacement flat badge will lock in the hood, just like your upright star. (Not like other flat badges that use funky screw posts with washers and wing nuts that take time to adjust.) It takes just seconds to remove your original upright ornament and replace it with either the WHITE STAR Flat Badge or the AMG Flat Badge. Switch back and forth between your original ornament and flat badge anytime the whim strikes you.

Each badge is autographed and serial numbered. Serial numbers are assigned in the order payment is received.

There currently are 365 serial-numbered WHITE STAR Flat Badges in circulation. The new AMG Flat Badge will start a new sequence of serial numbers, beginning at 003.

Your badge is delivered in 2-3 business days, via USPS Priority Mail, anywhere in the US. Int'l delivery available on request.

As always, I do not talk about pricing at MBWorld. This is to avoid confusion on the forums where I can be more specific off line. If you are interested, simply click on my e-mail address below my signature, and send me an e-mail. I will respond promptly, as always.

It occurs to me that some of you might not know the history behind my products here at MBWorld. So, I will post a link to one of the previous threads that proved informative and popular throughout the years. This link includes hundreds of photos of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various cars. Naturally, the majority of the pictures on W203s are further down the history of 320+ posts.

Weather warmed up enough to take a couple pictures of the new AMG Flat Badge. First two pics are of my W203, followed by a picture on a W211 E63 AMG.

Here are a few pictures from the archives of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various cars.

There now are several AMG and WHITE STAR Flat Badges riding around on W212 hoods -- AMG models and standard Sedans. If some of you can post pictures so others can see how they look on the W212 that would be great. Thanks!

There aren't many good photos yet of my new AMG badge on cars, so here is one. It shows a nice contrast between the AMG badge and the stock grille badge. This is important for those seeking to avoid the "double badge" look.

Of course, most people are primarilly interested in losing the upright star... and the uniqueness of the AMG Badge... there are less than 30 of the AMG Badge on the planet as of today.

I also purchased a White Star several months ago, must say the quality on it is absolutely top notch and better than any badge I've seen before. It's a work of art and wonderfully crafted.

DFWdude doesn't read his threads on a daily basis. Best way to reach him is to pose your request in email. His email is address is in the siggy at the bottom of his posts, or you can open your email and then click on this link. DFWdude@tx.rr.com

Besides, your account has email messaging disabled, so he couldn't write to you anyway. Surely you don't expect him to quote you a price on the forums, when he has written countless times that he won't.

Some of you have written to ask if my badges fit the W212 models with the solid Chrome style base mount. The short answer is YES.

In technical fact, the polished face upright hood star mount on the current E-Class cars was introduced on the S-Class (W221) in 2006, and carries an S-Class part number, #221-880-0086 (the “221” part of the number means it is for a W221 S-Class sedan). So, (technically) all current E-Class sedans have an upright hood star from the S-Class.

However, this is a simple adaptation of the Laurel Wreath Upright Star that came before (Pt# 210-880-0186), which first appeared on the W210 E-Class in 1996. You’ll notice that the diameter of both stars is the same, and the mount that is below the hood is identical for both badges.

Because I manufacture my WHITE STAR and AMG Flat Badges from the W210 upright, my badges will fit all the Mercedes sedans that use these two Upright Star styles, including your W212. Compare side by side photos of the Upright stars and their related flat badges below.

See pics. I am not sure yet if I want to change the grille, I am not too happy with the grilles I've seen and since I started looking it seems every other MB has an after market star-grille (sometimes cheesy looking) so I don't know yet. But I did not say anything about the swap (visor vs badge) and my wife immediately noticed how much more class the car appeared (saying it looks like a Bentley. See third picture in particular).

Finally starting to see some pictures of badges on the W212. Here are some from Ari. His new grille looks excellent with the WHITE STAR Flat Badge.

And this last one, like mbfoup's previously, shows how the badge sits within the divot despite the ridge in the hood. Verdict: It fits...

any chance you'd do one with black instead of blue?

I make these hood badges from the standard upright ornament. The standard upright comes in only one color, blue.

So the answer is no, black is not an option or even a possibility.

well, everything is possible (no reason one couldn't strip it and do it in black). thought I'd ask.

No harm in asking (although it's been asked 400 times already in other threads). But I am a metal machinist, not a T-Shirt silk screen artist.

I have stripped the lacquer away in the past. But you are not left with anything useful as a guide for hand-painting between the lines. Because there are no lines.

Christmas Delivery Notice...

Should you want to order one of my badges for the holidays (as a gift for yourself or someone else), I suggest that you contact me so that your order can be placed no later than Saturday, Dec. 18. This will ensure that your package is mailled on the 20th for delivery by Dec. 23rd.

I mail all my badges using USPS Priority Mail, in a Small Flat Rate Box, with delivery in 2-3 business days.

Each year, someone always wants to place an order at the last minute and demand overnight delivery. I can't accomodate these, as I will be travelling and out of touch after Dec. 22. Orders placed after this time will be shipped on Dec. 27.

So, if you want a badge before Christmas, please place your order sometime this coming week, please. Thanks.

If collector's serial numbers mean anything to you, and you:

1) want a WHITE STAR Flat Badge with a serial number at or below 450,

2) or an AMG Flat Badge with serial number at or below 50...

please contact me soon at the link in my signature below.

For those with W212s who are interested...

There currently are 23 White Stars or AMG Badges sitting on the hoods of W212 E-Class cars. Quite exclusive, I think.

As of today, there are 467 White Star Flat Badges in circulation, leaving just 33 more to go before the 500 milestone is reached. I will continue to make these until I run out of parts, which should take it to about 675 badges.

However, I have not decided whether to continue numbering these after the first 500 are sold.

In either case, if serail numbers mean anything to you, you should plan to contact me soon if you want a White Star Flat Badge numbered 500 or less.

Next AMG Badge to be sold is Serial #52. By anyone's measure, these are rare, indeed.
