E63 P30, CL500 Sport
I just saw this thread, so I realize my response is very late, but I too can confirm that the differential service at 1000 miles is only for Performance Package equipped E63s. I own a W211 E63 with Performance Package and I had the exact opposite thing happen to me. I went to my dealership to change the differential fluid and they kept telling me that it just did NOT need to be changed. I initially let it go, but a great forum member (Jon2007E63P30) told me to go back and tell them that I had the performance package and that it does need to be changed. Sure enough, I called MBUSA and had them call the dealer and they ended-up changing my differential oil for free

Yes, I also saw this thread late. For those reading the thread regarding the differential oil change, I ended up doing it myself.
The dealer first sold me the wrong oil. It would be interesting to know what oil was put in the diff for $106. If they put in the LSD 75W-140 Castrol SAF-XJ, it is not the "right" oil, but probably not bad either. I would not go changing it out if that is what they used.
I am also not sure if the dealer are changing the diff oil complimentary any more. I think I saw an updated post on the PL that stated it was not a complimentary item for the C63.

Hey, would someone post the maintenance schedule PDF for the W212 E63?
You can get it from MBUSA Owners Online.
My 2007 E63 does not mention the rear axle except for the 150kmi service. Nor does it mention the transmission after the first 40k change.
Personally, I will change the diff oil again after 5 years and the tranny every 40k-50kmi. I do about 20kmi per year.
I am getting close to my spark plug change, but everything else is up to date.

10' C63, 99' 4Runner 250K miles!
I took my C63 by the MB dealer to have a turn signal fixed and they wanted to change the fluid in mine too, even though it only has 2500 miles and no LS differential.
I told him it didn't need it, and he pulled out a manual pointed to where it says: "Replace rear axle differential fluid (only C63 AMG, CLS 63 AMG, E 63 AMG, SL 63 AMG, with AMG Performance Package and SL AMG)"
I tried to argue and he said all of the C63's have the AMG performance package. I think he was thinking the AMG package is the performance package. My conclusion is that the guy wasn't trying to hose me, he was just ingnorant because they sell a bunch of C300's and no C63's. Whether it's dishonesty or ignorance, I don't want them to touch my car.

My guess is that there is no diff service required. There is no mention of diff service for the W211 other than the 2K for the P030 LSD.

2010 E63
I finally decided to check my service records from M-B at Long Beach and found I was charged $171.36 for a "Renew Differential Fluid" back in July 2010 when I had 2352 miles. I do not have the Performance Package. Page 11 of the Maintenance Booklet confirms it is only for PP but I was fooled by both the wording (didn't read past E63) and my friendly dealer. I'll demand a credit on my next visit so thanks to all my fellow posters!
