I am thinking about replacing a stock chrome grille with a blacked out one. Has anyone done that on a black car? Also what is the best way go about doing that? Paint it, powder coat, buy an after market one (if one exists)?
My car comes with distronic so the grille has a plastic cover in the center. I was trying to find and after market grille and could not find anything for the W212 body. There is plenty available for the W211 but hardly anything for W212

Very nice. Our car should come like this stock![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
I called brabus USA and have them do my grille in metallic titanium finish, just like on their website. I should have it delivered and installed sometime next week.

I recently painted my front grill Black Matte, however, the paint is starting to chip off, due to small rock from highway driving...... I first sanded the grill, then put 2 coats of Rustoleum & clear finish..... Any ideas? Did I miss something? I know it was very cold out when I completed the work, perhaps it didn't dry enough???
Would you recommend aftermarket? I saw Lorinser, however that's $699.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated
Thanks

2005 E55 drowned/ 2011 CTS-v coupe gone/ 2012 E63 PP,LSD finally here
I think you should use an adhesion promoter on the grille itself before you apply any base coats, it helps the base coat to stick/bite to the material, professional paint suppliers carry it, also maybe the rustolem isn't the best choice as a black base coat, I always use a urethane base coat followed by your clear coat, maybe have a decent auto body shop do it for you
