I was out driving the other day. Anyway, I was passing a car from a slow speed while in 1st gear. I thought I was set in S+ mode but, was actually in manual setting. I blew right pass red line and my car just stop running. I'm sure the ECU cut the spark or fuel or both to protect the motor. Once the rpms were lower, the motor came back to life.

The motor seems to be fine. Has anyone out there had similar experiences? If so, please share.

Thank God for the rev limiter.

It worked just like it should.

The rev limiter on the M156 is like a brick wall. None of the nice gentle "bouncing" off the rev limiter.

Yes, your engine is perfectly safe.
Ive bounced off the rev limiter countless times, no problems.

Thanks
Guys, thanks for your responses. Now, I'm not so worried. However, I just didn't bounce off the rev limiter, I stayed on it until the motor appeared to stop running. I'm sure it just cut the fuel and the motor stopped until the rpms were low enough to start the fuel flow again.

No noticeable ill effects noticed.
