E63 vs M5 vs Jag XFR

E63 (no PP) trumps the M5 and Jag:

I have to admit that I'm surprised regardless of being a huge AMG fan. I had thought the E63 PP would be closely matched to the M5 but to see it coming out ahead of the M5 without the PP is pretty crazy.

Pretty cool and shocking. M-B really went the full mile with the W212 AMG V2. I'm sure the E63 will be a little "cheaper" than the M5, and now that it's a better performance-driver and IMO looker than the M5, it will a tough life for this gens M5 (although the M5 namesake is so revered, it really sells itself).

I drove the 2012 E63 a couple of weeks ago and it is definitely the new King of the Hill!

It is so very sharp and the acceleration of the 5.5TT is Legendary....i can only imagine how it will feel after an ECU tune

I'll take a Matte Black with some ADV's

The torque is the biggest difference....the 5.5TT has an insane midrange that just keeps going to redline

I drove the 2011 E63 last year around the track and loved it....but the 2012 just feels all round better in everyway

Suprisingly, the 5.5TT has a great exhaust note as well...not as loud as the 6.3 but it still sounds awesome....The M5 exhaust note is tame in comparison.....

I am not surprised at all. I have been sayin all along - the new W212 E63 is NOT the same as the W211. The handling is way better and with the new engine on top, the M5 has been beat. It's been a while in the making but it has been done.

Props to ///AMG for getting the W212 right. It's an amazing car. King of the road in the segment!

+1

It's almost amazing how much handling makes a difference and I'm ecstatic that AMG has realized that. The 6.2L E63 beat the CTS-V around willow springs in one of the big three magazines... hopefully all next generation AMGs will be built with the same mindset AMG had with the W212

2013 ML63 AMG PP
The E63 is looking more an more like the best mid-size performance car to get! I can only imagine it with the Performance pack and those extra 40hp and torque!!!

When I spec'd and ordered my 2012 E63 the 80L fuel tank was a $200 option so perhaps they are quoting the official numbers for the standard 60L tank but the test car has the 80L option?

Mind you I'm in Europe. US cars may be delivered standard with the 80L option. 60L in a car like this is ridiculous.

When I ordered my car, I did not see any option for fuel tank size.

now that looks nice..... plus this write up makes me lean towards getting the E63 instead of the M5

English driving cycle on which they rate mileage on is different than the one used in the states.
