i drive them all, fast and hard
M mode is probably slower than S+,
why not just leave it in s+ and manually shift as needed
do people with these kinda of trannys, actually always shift thru gears as if they are in Stick manual car, it just feels odd, and i usually just let it autoshift
back to the leather, so is the 2010-11 cars, did they come with premium leather or basic leather, as there was no option

Something that concerns me is that all the reviews I have read of cars equipped with the MCT is that it shifts great when left to its own devices, but I personally almost never leave a car in D, or in this case S+, I always shift with the paddles or the "shifter". But I have read that if you try shift yourself the transmission is very slow to respond. Is this true?
I have two MCT's now and they shift rather quickly. My perspective versus the the three DCT's I have or had (M3, GTR, Porsche) is that in S+ its not as fast obviously but still a great deal faster than an auto slush box.
The best manual shifting car I had was the M3 DCT... followed very very closely by the GTR. I dont really manually shift in the PDK though. The software is quite incredible in Auto mode with the Pcar.

just a couple of quick comments.
mbusa dot com finally added the 2012 E63 onto their "build your car" site. It is now very accurate and aligns to "almost" the same as what the dealers builds screens show.
When I built my car several weeks ago, there was several oddities (separate charge for red brake calipers, charge for standard version of the 19" wheels, and the Gas Guzzler Tax). Once MBUSA had the build on their website, I printed out my config and took into into the dealer and made sure they printed out a new build order. My car gets built on Nov 14th and then its the long wait to get shipped to LAX, then the ride to Portland Oregon. So I am looking at end of Dec to mid January.
I ordered it pretty loaded and it does have the premium leather option now. My dealer told me, at times, some things are simply out of stock at the factory and they can not build with certain options all the time. I am getting everything I want which is pretty much everything except for (cabon fiber trim, chrom door handles, pano roof, the the ceramic brakes). Everything else is on my car. I am paying ~$105k for it which is $2k off of MSRP. I am not entitled to any discounts through any programs. My discount came through a very simple process. "I have bought 2 mercedes from you and service both cars exclusively through you. I am sure I can find a dealer on the west coast willing to give me a discount, do you really want me to go that route after my loyalty to this dealership and you as a salesman?)

Anyway, it will be interesting to see when our cars arrive, my car is also set to be built in the second decade of November and will get here mid january earliest. car takes 2 weeks to build, built car can wait up to 2 weeks for a boat, boat takes 30 days, takes 3-10 days to get to the bay area, maybe longer for oregon. Hopefully not!

You coulda gotten them lower! just ordered mine for 1000 over invoice, and they make about 6000 on these cars.

yea, I am sure I could have got them to come down another few thousand if I really wanted to.
The race (pun intended) is on to see which one of us gets our car first. My dealer said they actually build the car in 2 days, its the sitting waiting to fill up the container ship that is the big wild card. As is the delay after landing in LAX if they have to install anything while in LAX prior to sending to Oregon.
My car has an actual build date assigned to it, which is Nov 14th, while another guy at our dealer is still listed as 2nd decade of November

There is actually more than 6k in the car(s). Its what you can and can't see. EG on a 100k msrp car invoice is very close to 94k or 6% (what you can see) but then there is dealer holdback from the factory that yields another 6%- If a dealer ever gives you "triple net" then you are the full 12% off sticker.
The 6% and 6% is a general rule of thumb not absolute.

Id shoot for invoice or close to it.... so about 6%. I was fortunate to do better than this even though my dealer sold two others a few days later for sticker price. My sticker was 116555 and invoice was 109650.... I did better than this.

your list of the "depends" is along the lines of what I was thinking as well, hence why I think I assumed at the time I could not push them down too far (my mistake). They only had a single 2012 E63 allocated to them at the time I decided to purchase so figured they could just as easily sell it to someone else at sticker. But what I would like to know is, why does it seem like people are saying the C63 manages to shift faster than the E63 with the same transmission? I am sure the car is a rocket if you just leave it in S+ and let the tranny shift for you, but I almost never do that, I would want to be using the paddle shifters every second I drive the car, would I be disappointed?

If one is driving in S+ and uses the shifters it reverts to manual mode and the gear will be held until upshift/downshift. There is no difference between M mode and S+ (with a paddle downshift or upshift)- they both are then manual mode. As for why they did it that way; I have no idea.

i thought in S+ mode, that if u start using the paddles, it wont let u over rev it if u choose to redline, yet it will still shift for u, , but in pure M mode, u are on your own no matter what

Stopped by my local dealer yesterday to look at cars and behold, he had a 2012 E63 that just rolled in the day before. We took it out for a test ride and all I can say is this car is an animal and the MCT transmissions works flawlessly. The car had the PP engine and the power was intoxicating and there is no dicernable turbo lag. Makes my CL63 seem slow and boring. Good luck to all you guys who are taking delivery as you will not be disappointed. I may have to rid myself of the CL for this car sometime soon.

You need to drive the cars.... sorry but as much as my opinion may count it wont be able to replace yours. I dont drive in M mode enough so I cant give you a true perspective.

i disagree with getting a better deal with orders
atleast in my case, i didnt,
we ordered our c320 in 2005, because of certain specifics that were wanted, and they didnt really budge of any of the price,
and this was a dealer we had purchased 2 other cars from before,

aarrgghh....i almost got to drive one today at fletcher jones, they were quite busy and it took forever to get a sales guy there, as we were looking at the car, another sales guy brought another client over to drive it, problem is they already had the key, so he goto drive it, even thought there was a third party who was negociating at the time the second guy was driving, by the time it came back....sold
i had to drive a 2010 again, i really wanted to drive the TT so i could compare......

The red brake calipers that come with the PP also look really good on a black car, compared to the gray standard color. Seeing them side by side made it clear. Of course, I guess the gray ones can also be painted.
We are both loving our cars, even compared to the already excellent 2010 version.

My friend was the guy who bought that car at Fletcher Jones. I finally got a chance to get both our cars together for a quick pic. His car is a non-PP version. His previous car was a 2010 E63 and he does notice a big improvement in performance between the 2010 and his non-PP 2012. I let him drive my car and he also noticed a significant difference his non-PP car and mine with the PP. Bottom line: torque = fun

On my order I am paying 107,530 on a 116,995 sticker and I am very happy with this. I think on orders you can get a much better deal because you need to wait 3 to 4 months to get your car and you are not taking something off of the lot they could sell for more if someone catches the have to have it now bug. I also bought two MBs the same day and am taking my dealer to AMG school with me.
