Help Please - Winter Tires/Rim yet again

Hi, hope to be an owner of a 2011 E63 in a few days but need to mOve fast as I don't want to drive in snow and salt on the forged 19s.

Read several threads and see that 255-40-18s are the recommended size. I have an extra set of factory 18s AMG rims from a 2007 E63 with very new winter tires.

Tires are 265-35-18 and 245-40-18 which were factory sizes. Will these tires work without any issues on appropriate size rims?

Will my W211 factory rims work - I think that may have been answered as no already but not certain. Those rims were 8.5" w/ a 30 offset and 9" with a 39 offset.. Wondering based on what south ocean said about the rears and his offset (40) but no sure about fronts?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Anyone? We've got a lot of 212 owners who have come from 211s. What size and offset wheels are you using on the 212s for the winters?

Not certain but I think the calipers are a lot bigger on the w212 than the 211. Not sure the will clear with those offsets but you should call the guys at tire rack. They are pretty knowledgeable

Not likely to fit. So are current owners using:

1. 18s with same size all around such as 255-45-18s?
2. 19s with same all around?
3. Staggered set of 18s or 19s?

Some feedback would help us new owners decide before the snow arrives!

Thanks

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Just spoke to Tirerack yesterday regarding the winter tire situation. They only have the 19" HRE wheels at this time for the E63 because they don't have the measurements for the W212 E63. As for winter tires, they recommend 255/40-18 Blizzak. I got an e-mail today from them asking to see if an E63 can be brought in for measurements. I will see if that is possible from MB dealer since I live close to Tirerack's South Bend HQ.

Tirerack HQ people will be measuring the E63 this morning. Try calling them in the afternoon. I'll probably call them later as well.

The dealer is only offering 255-40-18s all around on Pirellis. They dont offer 19s. Calling around, seems like 19" winters are not easy to get and are very pricey. Further, it seems like you have to go staggered when you get to 19s altho i'm guessing you could do 255-35-19s all around perhaps...

My issue here in Canada is that winters should be on roughly 6 months (give or take a month since Toronto isnt that bad) - so I would prefer to have the car looking decent with 19s if I'm forced to drive it with winters for that long.

It is a second car (jeep suv) so perhaps we dont take it out of the garage unless its a clear day (which is what the wife is saying given the add'l $$).

Search for a thread by south ocean from last winter. All the info you need is in that thread. He did a lot of work and posted indepth thoughts. I believe he went with 255 all round on forge star wheels which looked great and are nice quality, reasonably priced wheels

I actually did that a couple of days ago and exchanged messages with him - definitely very helpful.

Thanks

Well, this never happened and as far as we know the car was never purchased and is still sitting at the dealership

so, if anybody has 1 of these magnificent cars and would like to bring it here to South Bend I can make it worth your while.

It looks like that dealer had BS me back then again. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Anyway, what will be done to the car to take the measurements? Will there be anything done that might possibly cause damage? What days of the week and what time of the day is your HQ open for that? If everything sounds good, I might go out of my way and drop by on my next trip to that area.

By the way, just curious what kind of "worth your while" are we looking at? Feel free to PM me if you like.

It will definitely be a fun 1000 miles as long as it doesn't get icy or blizzard-like. To get back to Indiana, I dropped by Chicago and drove a total of 700+ miles within two days after picking up my car from Alabama. It was definitely lots of fun to get acquainted with all the in's and out's of a new vehicle. And I got to sleep across the back seat one night...it was nice since I figure I couldn't get to sleep on a leather-clad surface at any hotels.
