Anyone have 2010-2011 and 2012 e63?
I do not notice turbo lag in the new engine. What is very noticeable to me is the substantially greater torque. It does not come with noticeable turbo lag.
I think the steering on the new car feels much better than the old one. I do not remember the particulars on the new system, but I think it is speed sensitive. In my opinion, the steering on the new car feels much better.
My 2012 is much more tossable than my 2010, but part of this difference is likely from the Performance Package and its tighter suspension, and possibly the 19" wheels.
Just my $.02.
as vic stated that those settings probably one up the settings of the NON PP versions, for both the 6.2 cars and the TT 5.5 cars
i think, in my opinion that the non PP settings are fine as they give u enuf options , maybe if u want to track the car, the stiffer PP package would be ideal

Did you take delivery of your 2012?
1 week to go on my 2012 Black PP with Designo Maroon interior and piano.

To me (my thoughts) is the steering is improved even over the 2010 (I have an E63). Suspension, Steering, chassis, etc all roll into together and the new mercs with the PP have done a great job on a 4000 lb plus car no doubt.
As for turbo lag, I agree with E63AMG (poster above), clearly its minimal. These cars are not sporting big turbos so the spool period is very small. It runs very similar to the GTR in lag feel. My PDK TT is amazing with the VTG's and this car spools relatively close to the P car. Now in contrast was my 2007 997TT with the tiptronic tranny--- the car would wait and them bam!!! explode. The lag was clearly there. Transmission plays a factor here and the MCT does a good job mitigating some of this. A DCT might even do a better job and I wish it was on our cars.

for someone like me who has never experienced the diff in a lsd car vs a non lsd, comparable car, i dont know how it makes a difference or what i would feel, specifically

Having said that, I must say I have been impressed with how well Eco mode works when I have chosen to use it. I will sometimes leave it in Eco mode if I have kids in the car, or when the roads are wet, or when I am stuck in traffic anyway. I notice I am refillng my tank less frequently compared to my previous cars. Thats a time saver, with no loss of driving excitement.
I dont know exactly how it works, but when the car restarts, it does it so quickly its almost like it uses combustion, not a starter, to restart the car. Its instant. It seems to explode on.
I was not expecting to be impressed, but the systems seems to work really well. I would not worry about starter longevity.

Similar setup of on/off is used by quite a few car manufacturers. The wide spread use of it is at most a few years, so there is no way to tell the long term effect of it.
As above, I do agree most drivers of this type of car really don't mind about fuel economy. It's more the hassle of having to fuel up.
