Can't shift into manual mode while moving?

Alright guys, i have a quick question. I know it's probably a ridiculous question, but the manual talk about it so i figured i would ask. The manual says that you should not shift from c, s or s+ into manual unless you are stopped. Really? REALLY?? This seems very ridiculous. Anyway, i'm sure the majority of people will say "it's fine i do it all the time" and i have done it plenty of times too, but is there anyone who knows if this is actually bad for the car or why they say to not do it? Thanks

Josh

I'm always stopped when I change......never tried it in motion.......
when I was test driving cars before I bought, a woman said, "oh yeah, it's okay guys do it all the time" , and maybe they do, but she was not working there on my next trip......
I just stick with the manual....
Also, I have come to a complete stop to change modes at highway entrance ramps, LOL

Given the effort required to stop and switch, I would just do what the manual says...my $0.02 (in C$ of course)!

I noticed that in the manual for the first time last week. Didn't know why either. But I figure it says so for a reason.

It talks about needing to be at a complete stop only to shift into manual.

Thanks Geo, i have as well. I was just wondering if there is really some sort of damage that would be caused, but from both of our experiences, there is not.

the amg button allows you to get to your demon speed setting at any given moment with the push of one button and that includes getting into manual mode, while on the fly. If it were so bad for the car, i'm sure they would have manual mode locked out while you're in motion. i'd just mash it and go.

but if you just started shifting with the paddles while in s or s plus mode wouldnt you be in manual mode then?

would it be the same as MANUALLY(with the dial) switching to manual ?

No. Manual mode give you the fastest gear shifts. Switching with paddles while I'm s mode is slower than paddles in manual mode.

That AMG button doesn't seem to include the ESC setting.
