E63 Wagon vs CTS-V Wagon
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._benz_e63_amg/
The slower of the two station wagons hits 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds. The slower one. That would be the Cadillac, as the Benz can do the deed in just 3.9 seconds. Remember, these are cars that can carry a full load of pots, pans, and cookie sheets from Sur La Table while simultaneously smoking every Mustang within a 100-mile radius. No, really, check the quarter-mile times. Now, even with identical torque-to-weight ratios (7.6 pounds of car per pound-foot of gumption), the AMG is three-tenths of a second quicker in the quarter (12.2 seconds at 118.6 mph versus 12.5 seconds at 116.5 mph). It's partly because of where the torque gets made. The AMG's twin-turbo V-8 produces peak torque at a lowly 2000 rpm. The LSA isn't cranking out its full twisting force until 3800 rpm. But if you try to launch the CTS-V above 2000 rpm, it just spins the tires.

Always thought cts was supposed to compare to 3 series, c class
And sts to the five and e. but I guess it's kinda middle ground

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The ATS is the competitor for the 3 series and C class.
Also got an E-500 Wagon,
Neither is V or AMG.
Here is a few observations on the Caddy:
The front seats does not give the support of the W211 seats, at least for me, 6'2", 230 lbs. Wife loves the seats.
The engine is not as smooth as the MB, also a bit more noisy.
Sizewise it is a number smaller than the E, but bigger than the C, somewhere in between.
Lost of electronic gizzo stuff: Open the doors with your iphone, read milage, oil life remaining and tire pressure, etc on the iphone or your homw computer.
Overall a different class car than the upscale MBs, but the price also reflects that:
The sticker on the CTS Wagon with a 'luxury" package and the optional paint was $44,650, got it for $36,500 after a bit of haggling.
Good car for the moneey.
Looked at the E-350 with a few options and it was over $60K. Not sure I could have haggled it down much.
Wife loves the Caddilac.

If I didnt get this wagon I wouldnt have considered the caddy though. Im not sure why- maybe its my german affection (Porsche, BMW M, AMG) or the reviews about the quality or maybe its just that I have never been a caddy guy. I know its a performer, no doubt, and its price point is very attractive.
Maybe it was the smoking deal I got

Coming soon... its just a stock white wagon with 18 inch special order wheels.. yawwwwwn
Damn the wagon handles---- took it 112 mph on a high speed turn- felt planted like the CLS if not better-- WTF!!! In the straights it just pulls no less than the CLS via the buttmeter. I know its a little slower at higher speeds but---- who cares its a freakin wagon. Wheels will be ordered tomorrow and the kw'S are already on their way.
LOL...
Can't wait to see it slammed!

Mexico toll roads ... hit 139mph in the straights and was taking it easy. Doing the "hard break in" going up and down the rpm range in gears.
Yes those are CLS fitments 20x9 and 20x11
Resonator delete will open up the sound more too- I did it on the CLS and it will happen on this car too. I took it on few more high speed bends today and I found myself staying on the pedal and watching the mph climb nicely into triple digits.
This car will be scary with a tune as I crush soccer mom mobiles

I was telling him about the E63 Estate I have coming in and he told me his buddy just got one. I was jealous!

It still is no GTR or 997TT but then its not supposed to be. Its stock right now so its a super sleeper but it will become a bad a$$ mo fo soon enough.
Wagon version of many RWD or rear-biased cars seem to have a better driving dynamic to them. And that is the reason many rally drivers prefer hatchback version of their chosen cars.
CTS-V does have a good price point that is hard to dismiss. That's why I was considering it at one point. However, it's hard to feel happy when everything else besides the engine and the tranny is falling apart. Overall, CTS always look small--likely due to its design. Exactly--it always look more c-class or 3-series -ish rather than E or 5-series.

Can't wait to see it!
The CTS-V Positives:
-AMAZING suspension. Absolutely amazing, I will miss it a lot.
-I love the look of the CTS-V wagon, i think its the nicest/sexiest wagon ever built. Specially the Black diamond edition, great paintwork..
-I like the fact that Gm built a superwagon like this, I like the fact that I am driving a supercar and have all that room in the trunk.
-Comfy rear seats
CTS-V negatives:
-God Awful automatic tranny. Its probably as bad as my old Mini cooper 06 automatic. In a car like this its unacceptable.
-Dont like the engine. Yes its good but its nowhere near the AMG. I havent driven the new tt engine but I am looking to buy a used E63 with the old engine, that engine is so good i miss it a lot... And the exhaust note...
-Bad navigation and command unit, its like from a car from 10 yrs ago. Doesnt even have caller ID (only shows the number not the name).
-The interior quality... This essentially was the biggest reason for my unhappiness with the car. I appreciate a quiet car that feels solid and "heavy". The CTS-V rattles in every turn and the doors feel like they are from a cheap japanese car (I dont hate japanese cars I have a Mitsubishi Evo 9 which I love. No disrespect). My point is that dont expect anything more from the CTS-V than what you would get in a cheap Chevy when it comes to interior quality. It was such a disappointment just before Christmas I got my wife a Porsche cayenne and the build quality on that is a perfect 10. Then a few days later I get my new Caddy and I feel so jealous of her driving the Cayenne while I feel im stuck driving a low quality (interior) car. I like how the interior looks tho compared to my old C63!
-BAD recaro front seats. In my CTS-V the seats actually wiggles in turns. To me thats unacceptable. The seats I had in my C63 were way better (comfier and held me in my seat in turns).
-I dont like the steering on the CTS-V as it seems to me it is only made for the Nurgburgring. With that I mean is that it feels like the steering is made to be for very high speed turns like what you would see on a track. In normal everyday driving that doesnt really feel right. If you track your car a lot (i do sometimes) this prob would be ok but it get a bit annoying in everyday driving.
Thats just a quick recap but even if I am unhappy with my CTS-V wagon I appreciate that there is a car like it. I just wish it was a bit better but you also have to remember it is way cheaper than a E63 wagon (or sedan). To me the price difference is worth it tho. IN FAVOR OF THE BENZ.
