ESP off , should i...
so i found out that with the ESP button fully held down for a few seconds it turns it completely off..
does anyone drive in this mode,
is it safe?
does anyone know how the management between the ON, sport and off modes is specifically different?
thanks

Ive been driving this way since I got my first ESP Off car... be careful if you are a lead foot or are gambler in turns... also never drive ESP Off in the rain.
The manual basically says with On- TQ is managed based on wheel spin and in sport mode TQ management is greatly reduced and Off you get the full compliment of TQ. You can definitely tell the car pulls better in Sport or OFF.

ESP off is the way to drive if you want to have fun. Driving ESP off in the rain is crazy and fun at the same time. But be very careful if you ever try it!!
ESP at Sport mode is fast but doesnt let you fishtail alot..
If you start using the OFF mode then start very slowly learning your cars limits. You should maybe go on a parking lot to practice so you know when to expect the tail to loose grip. I would not recommend you to start trying your limits on a normal road if you dont have experience driving ESP off.

i am a good driver, but also dont wanna be stupid and screw up a 100000 car
for every day freeway driving, once u are up to speed which doesnt take long in this car, is there any point in keeping it in sport , or even keeping the tranny in S+, wouldnt it be better to use those modes to get up to speed, but once u are at a constant speed for extended period, just to put it back to C , as it woulbd be more economical
as i type this, i know i am not talking to the right crowd and i should jsut stop or else u guys will make me give back my amg and keep my C class
im gonna go now, and drive it like it should

From a dig, ESP on makes sense for rookie drivers who dont know how to modulate the throttle.
If you are rolling and you get the inkling to mash and go (in the dry) just push the button for a few seconds and go to ESP Off- enjoy.

You are correct if you drive for a long time a constant speed keeping it in c mode is a more comfortable drive and more economical. But if you are in a rush (need to overtake etc.) you prob want to keep it in Sport mode..
Just think of it this way. Hard/fast driving (always ESP Sport mode, or OFF, and tranny S+), Comfortable/highway driving ESP C mode and tranny too. Thats how you get the most out of your car.
Even if im not in a hurry I always drive ESP OFF or Sport except for longer highway drives. It really is a matter of what YOU prefer and how you like your car to handle. Theres no right and wrongs

one thing is that you can't engage CC while the the esp is off right?
I always try to remember to put it back on before getting on the highway
so I can still have the S+, but the ability to use CC

I was ripping almost every light on the way home![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
even got some respect from a 2012 acura wagon guy that I was
'dancing' with on the highway......
I came out of the gas station sideways! it was amazing!

If you have to ask...i suggest you probably don't. It's for drivers that can handle these beasts raw

Maybe in the M engines (s85 motor) where peak hp and tq occur over 6k and any owner knows they have to get there to max it but in our AMGs id guess that about 90% of the owners never even truly push the cars. Even today when I was at 151mph in the wagon- i wasnt close to the peak rpm range for hp. But conversely in my M3 and M6 I often ran to 8250 rpm.
