2010 E63 or 2010 maserati GT-S

Hi Guys -

I bought my E63 new and I love it. It has just over 20K miles on it now. Problem is, I recently bought a 2009 BMW 550i with the M sport package with a 6 speed MT. The BMW has only 20K miles on it. Now I have 2 sedans and I don't really need 2 sedans. I have the range rover for the winter also.

My question is this - should I keep the E63 or trade it for a slighltly used 2010 Maserati GranTurismo S? The maser is a stunning car, specially in person and the S model has almost the level of performance that is in my E63. Should I get into the maserati or hold onto the E63? I keep going back and forth and cant reach a decision. Is the E63 a unique enough sedan that I should keep in and hold onto 2 sedans?

I would not want to sell the 550i as I just got it. Also, I would trade the E63 since its value is higher than the 550i (obviously) and use that for the maser GT-S.

What would you do and why? Thanks!!

Buy the Maseratti.....if you want to spend more time in the repair shop than on the road. Its a poor man's ferrari. While its a more rare than your E63 and it is a sylish car, I'm not a fan.

Actually not true of the GT-S. It is actually a fairly reliable car from what I am reading. I wouldnt go with the F1 tranny as a new clutch can cost a lot but barring that, I know people with 30K+ miles on theirs and they havnt had any real problems...

Its one of the best looking cars on the road IMO. Just don't know if I would rather keep the 63 or not. Its a tough choice!

Should have traded in the E63 for the Bimmer in the first place. Having two sedans are definitely too much. What I would do?!...I would still trade in the Bimmer for the Maserati. However, it seems like you have your mind set on trading in the E63 instead.

I have always wanted a Maz but was concerned about the lack of power...

I hear the sound is amazing from those engines--- I would go GT-S.

They sound ferocious...but have heard too many horror stories about repairs and cost of those repairs.

So a warranty is a must- a 2010 should still be under factory warranty depending on in service date.

Yes, only because the E63 I own straight out and I wouldnt have to front too much cash to get the maser. If I traded the 550i, would have to front a lot more cash, which I dont want to do. Plus, I like the manual tranny and just got it. Have had the E63 almost 2 years now

Yes, exactly why I am considering only 2010+ models. The GT-S runs the 1.4 in 12.8-12.9 and does 0-60 in 4.6 sec according to motor trend. That is not bad and only a tad slower than my E63.

As far as the sound, I never tjough I'd find a car that rumbles the way the E63 does but this ferrari engine has the best sound track I have ever heard in any car.

I will keep you all posted. I am still unsure what to do here

Just recently got a 2012 Maserati GT-S to my garage. Well, its exhaust is just crazy nice and loud too. Ride wise pretty much the same and both are stylish - well Maserati is definitely more eye-catching to my perspective.

I think of it this way - if you want to enjoy driving and listening to the exhaust tone, Maserati GT-S no doubt. W212 E63 I would rather drive it with more of spirited driver in mind (not comparing to M). But to be honest, if I were you I would sell the 550i to get the Maserati

LOL different driving dynamics- maybe a lease special? Its ok to have two sedans. As fast as the E63 may be, the Bimmer does have a better driving feel depending on the packages he may have.

I once went thru a slew of questions asking me why I got a GTR when I had a 997TT... those questions dont occur anymore.

At one point I used to own a E60 M5 and a W211 E63 both in black on black. People asked why and i replied, I couldn't make up my mind. Appreciated both cars in different ways although in theory they were the same concept.

op: Although the E63 will smoke the Maserati and is a better performer, Go for the Maserati. You have another sedan and a RR for space and it looks like you had the E63 for about 2 years now, move on to something else and enjoy.

I say get rid of all three--bimmer, merc, ranger rover, and replace all three with a G63 or G65. After that, add the GT-S.

Man, I guess all you folks get rid of cars after a couple of years. Eventually, I'm sure I'll be the only one left on this forum since I plan to keep mine for 5-7 years.

I think he is feeling out the 550 as it is newer to him, and he has had the Mercedes for a while and quite possibly is just getting over it and wants the Maser. I'd sell the e63 imo. You may consider getting back into AMG later on depending how you feel out the cars you have and or end up getting..

Test drove the GT-s and I liked it a lot. The exhaust note is probably the best sound track I have ever heard!

hahah I would usually agree with you on the "ugly" factor - but the 550i Sport with M package is actually a pretty good looking car. Totally changes the look of the car IMO. I dont like the car without that package on it.

I just bought it cuz after driving it with the 6 speed it was amazing. The dynamics of the car are far better than any standard E-class - I was honestly pretty amazed. I wanted a DD and the 550i fit the bill as I drive a lot and wanted something with decent MPG and also fun and that I could drive and not worry about miles etc. The 550i fits the bill for that perfectly.

But yes, I do have 2 sedans but they are different in many ways. After long debate, I am going to keep both for now. When I trade the E63, it will most likely be for an SLS AMG in 1-2 years. That is the plan anyway!

Yea - I almost did. Then I drove the E63 and I coudln't trade it in for a "slower" car. Keeping both for now, next ride is hopefully the SLS AMG in a little bit. I will say the maser is just pure sex on wheels. its stunning in person up close

Can't compare things with the standard E-class, the driving dynamic of which is hated by all auto reviewers. SLS!...That will be a good choice. You are really worrying about mpg and miles when you are aiming for the SLS?!

well... the maint on a maz equals the maintenance on a Range Rover in the opinion of some and he already has Range, so One of the worst thing that can go wrong is letting the battery die on that maz. Buy a jumpbox! Not jump starting these cars. There is alot to know about the masarati(sp)

E63
Got both

I got both,
If you want speed, technology, power and reliability go with E63
If you want beauty, style, and a loud exhaust, and the need to spend money on service bills get a Maserati.
I really don’t know how the service is in US but her in the UAE our dealer sucks
