Hey guys!
I own a e250 cdi 2011 model amg package with pano roof. Sometimes when i run over some bumps it makes a very annoying noise on the roof something like a strong crunch that sounds like a hit! For a while i thought that someone was throwing rocks at my car! Have anyone of you had the same thing?
Any help appreciated..
Thanks!

I had a similar problem with an E63. In my case it made a snapping/cracking noise and it gets louder everyday. I roll to the dealer and they found out that the panoramic roof was loose and whenever the car was put in a twisting condition it would made the noise. I'm not sure how to explain how with words but I hope you understand what I mean. Fortunately nothing was damaged and it took them less than a 24 hours to fix it.
My advice to you is to go to the dealer, your car is a 2011 model and it wouldn't cost you a dime for them to fix it. Gd luck

Heard this many times before. Another reason to avoid pano if you can. Like the old saying, keep it simple.

Wow Antrose, I just got my E class and have been noticing the EXACT noise. I am so happy that it can be fixed. Thanks for the info!

I wonder if the "fix" simply means some glue between the glass and the metal. I thought I saw one of those recent video on the production line at the Sindelfingen--it shows that the windshields and rear glass were simply installed onto the car via adhesive and glue. If that's the case, I wouldn't be surpised if the entire pano assembly is simply glued onto the rooftop.

I'm not sure about this, but my service manager said that the service guys took it down and they had to refit it. He also said something about screws and bolts.

I just made an appointment for mine so I will see if my guys are as willing to fix this as yours were.

Chances are they are not going to take your word for it. They would usually ask you to ride with a technician to replicate the noise before they want to do anything.

Agree +1, I chose not to have pano because it's useless lol and my car is black so don't really need pano.Originally Posted by otakki

But pano looks good on white, silver or grey car.

I had the pano roof on an S65 which I've just sold after 4 years and it was faultless. I'm a fan. It brightens the cabin at night and on gloomy days. The styling benefit on lighter colours is a bonus.

I personally love the Pano. Be honest with you, even if they don't get rid of the noise I'd buy it all over again. IMO
