Front Plates

Hate them but the car I am going to buy has them. Is the front bracket mounted through the painted portion or black area of the bumper?

I just took mine off when I bough it, hate them too and we don't have to have them, and it was installed in the painted part. Just above the flat black area.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Gotta move to a state where front plate is not required. Generally, those states tend to be better place to live IMO.

Not optimal (a car without front plates is) but its the avenue I would take:

I'm surprised there is something designed just for that. Personally, I would just get some small round-shaped tape of similar body color and just tape right over the holes.

Plugs

Picked the car up today and it did have plates. Took the mount off and it looks better but those holes are bothering me, Probably going to repair and paint when I spray the side markers

If not bumper plugs it is

Dont respray the bumper if at all possible... the nano paint from the factory is very very hard to replicate in its constitution. The paint from the factory is hard and doesnt chip very easily as its ceramic based (denoted by the C next to the paint code in your door jam). The factory paint also withstands swirlmarks at a greater level than that of normal factory paint jobs.

Id do the BumperPlugs idea as I suggested first.

From a quick search:

Mercedes-Benz has developed a scratch-resistant clearcoat using tiny ceramic nano-particles, each less than a millionth of a millimetre in size. The new clear lacquer is set to go into series production at Mercedes-Benz at the end of the year after four years of R&D with the E, S, CL, SL and SLK-Class series being first models to become in available with this new paint system.

The microscopic ceramic particles float around freely at first in the liquid clearcoat, before cross-linking as the drying process takes effect. The particles link in with one another in such a way as to create an extremely dense and smoothly structured network that is considerably more scratch-resistant than conventional paintwork.

According to Mercedes-Benz the nano-particles provide a three-fold improvement in the scratch resistance of the paintwork and ensure visibly enhanced gloss over an extended period of time. Following extreme tests in a laboratory car-wash, Mercedes engineers noted an around 40-percent improvement in paint gloss compared to conventional clear lacquers.

New nano-particle clearcoat will be introduced as standard for both metallic and non-metallic paint finishes.

Man, learn something new again today about the paint being ceramic based.

Hmm, I wonder if you can just paint the tip of the screw the with somewhat of the same color as the body and just screw it back on.

Speaking of New Jersey...it was there around 2002-2003 when I got ticketed twice for not having the front plate. Let's see, at Kearny and Newark. NJ is also the place where I got my first moving violation--ticketed for going through yellow light at Fort Lee on that first light after the last pre-GW bridge exit in NJ. Man, how ridiculous can that be?! I went to court and they told me they wouldn't deduct points as long as I pay a partial fine. I didn't want to wait since there were tons of people there in the court that evening so I paid.

Now you know why I hate that state. I feel the same about that entire tri-state area. Yes, that includes NYC. Absolutely no love for that place.

Yeah, Vic is a good source for info on all things automotive. You don't want to listen to me--I'm the kind who would just gather whatever is lying around the house to do the work. If I were you in this case, I might just get a large hole puncher and punch out two disks out of some duct tape and put it on since the color should be pretty close LOL. Seriously, I would, though.
