Wrong Interior Trim
My wagon arrived with black wood trim instead of the ordered carbon fibre trim. The dealer offered me $2500 or trim replacement. I told them I want the carbon fibre. Six weeks later I'm waiting for the parts to arrive. My dilemma is this:
My dealer seems incompetent to me and their service department has a poor reputation.
Has anyone replaced the interior trim in a w212 ?
I'm concerned they'll botch the job and I'll end up with misalignment, squeaks, rattles or worse. Your thoughts ?

That really sucks
there is no way secondhand install will have the same fit and finish of the original factory
maybe a custom shop with interior experience might be a better option

I can relate. My previous X5M was delivered with the wrong interior trim (dealer fault). Without hesitation, they reordered the vehicle with the correct trim and put the mistake up for sale on their lot. I inquired whether a trim swap would be possible, but they didn't seem to either a) be interested in doing so, or b) have the means.
I understand you've already accepted delivery of your wagon so reordering is not likely an option, but I'd be hesitant to trust any dealer with a full trim swap. I'd probably settle for the $2500 at this stage and use it for other cosmetic/performance upgrades to the car.

that is lame as hell!
I would have the exact same concerns as you.....
also, I think I'd stick with the piano trim, might grow on you.....
and also try to work those MF'er's for whatever kind of freebies you can get!!

i say take the $2500 + whatever else you can get from them for their mistake (ie escalate to MB local rep) - i don't think anyone will notice the CF trim in the long run - use the $2500+ for some new wheels!

Initially, I would ask them to reorder or give me a heavy discount, possibly more than $2500. Personally, I wouldn't have the dealer replace the trim pieces for fit and finish as mentioned by many above. Indeed, you wouldn't notice the CF over time.

I'd take the 2500 or have them order a new car. I don' t usually trust a dealer to do trim replacements as much as i would a custom car shop that does these things more on a daily basis. The black wood isn't too bad although i can feel your pain if you ordered cf trim and didn't get it.

The dash trim is super easy to change.
I dont know about the door trim though.
Probably just requires removing the door panels.
I'd make them give me the CF trim in factory boxes and change it myself.
Then you can sell the Black trim after.

Yes, I don't need to mention how people treat cars that are not their own when there is no one watching. Yup, just get it done as quickly as possibly so they can punch out by five o'clock.
