2012 E63 AMG
my 2012 E63 trip to the drag strip tonight

finally had a chance to take my totally stock 2012 E63 PP to the drag strip tonight to get a few runs in.

My best time was:
~12.19 @ 119.xx MPH

It was about 76 degrees out and somewhat humid. Car is totally stock.

That was with traction control in sport mode and the tranny in S+

I did not get to race racemode, trying to get it to work basically sucks. I need to figure out how to make it work

Thanks
Russell

i think with a bit better performance off the line it would be close to that.

but I have not seen a lot of data on other E63 TT PP 1/4 mile runs.

not sure the relevance here- your link is for an M156 and this is regarding an M157.

Back to the OP- I like your trap speed based on conditions...

thanks for the link. I too believe the 2 key factors are the weather and the 60ft numbers.

I went back and looked at my slips so I could quote exact figures.
My best 60 was 2.078
My best time was 12.168 @ 119.74 (that had a 2.105 60)

I do believe under the right weather, and learning how to launch the vehicle, I too should be able to get it into the high 11's

Agreed!

What kind of tires exactly where you running? and what size?

Honestly the biggest improvement is tires on this car. Especially out of the hole.

Dont really feel like walking into the garage and looking at the model but they are the stock ones that came with the car.

Agreed that tires will make a huge difference. My friend, who I went with, was running drag radials on his Mustang

You 60 foot is telling you to launch harder if your tires can hook. You should be able to hook a 1.8 - 1.9 60 foot on stock tires, which would reward you with a high 11

The traction control is probably kickin in killing your 60 foot

I have tried every launch combination imaginable with street tires(Pirelli PZeros) every tire pressure,in cool weather, hot weather, humid weather, dry weather and never broke into the 11s. Always low 12s at Englishtown.

There are several M157 E63s and CLS 63s that run here and I have never seen anyone with a stock PP run in the 11s. You simply can't get traction without drag radials. I now run BF Goodrich drag radials and run consistant 1.80-1.85 60' times and consistant 11.60s. (Sport+ traction control off). My car is stock with the exception of resonator delete which provides no power gains but sounds great! Can't go much faster without a roll cage ( 11.50) so not sure about a tune.

Exactly right... My friend ran an 11.46 with his mustang ( manual trainy) which earned him a trip up to the tower and told to slow down

It is heartening to know u ran 11.60s with DRs. Can u send me info on what rims and tires you bought as I want to get a pair and try again.

Gfish: I was running at woodurn which is south of Portland Oregon

Nice runs...

Work on your 60ft and you'll be in the 11's NO problem!

Your 60' explains your trap speed and as others have said if you get your 60' down in the 1.8's it should lead you to high 11's

Russellm:

BFG P275/35R18 drag radials ( I run 18 lbs PSI).

Enkei 18x9 PF01 wheels.

Ordered from Tire Rack( Luke).

In my opinion, BFG drag radials are not the best but I was not comfortable with the size/ fitment of MTs.

By the way, Tire Rack does not carry MTs.

if you improve the 60' by a nudge you should be in the 11's, but your close, a little bit more practice and your in.

good time.
i ran a 12.21 the other day in my cls63 pp. it was the first run ive ever done in any car at a dragstrip. didnt do a burnout (cant figure it out, the engine doesnt seem to want to let me do one, the engine just revs to 1500, and cuts power.)

however i wasnt able to match the time of that first run with any other run that evening.

my 60 was also 2.0X ...

i agree with you on the race start. theres too many steps to activating it. and not enough time... you have to be stopped to select it, but at which point you only have about 3 - 4 seconds before the lights turn green!

next time im just gonna say screw it, im going when im good and ready with my race start!!
