First is was the "GT" with the SLS and now the "S" to designate Sport/Performance Pack cars.

To be honest, as long as they get more power, and it makes them better cars, who cares

that E Wagon is sexual. Would love the cls shooting brake, too bad it's not coming to North America.

Looks amazing. What a car.

"S" is stupid to me. Confuses the brand although clearly they are trying to take AMG more mainstream across all models so I get it, needs to have some distinguishing piece of flair. Just "S-AMG" kinda lame.

Why don't they just put a "Type S" or "Type GTS" on the badges. Sheesh! Starting to become a ricer.

I know the verdict is still out but what do you guys think will be faster in straight...

F10 or this E63? Never ends does it?

Wow! I like the new front end a lot. The rear still looks too bland, but I could live with it.

Why so much whining about the "s" badges? I don't get why this is such a big issue..

Happy to see they dropped the body line around the back wheel, much better.

The "s" model confuses me.
It reminds me of Acura.
Not good for the brand awareness

What do you guys make of this "locking rear differential" for the S version? The press release says:
The E 63 AMG S-Model sees Mercedes-AMG going one step further. True to the "Driving Performance" philosophy, the most powerful E-Class is additionally fitted with a differential lock on the rear axle. This high-tech package results in a further increase in traction, ultimately leading to even greater driving dynamics and enhanced driving enjoyment, especially on the race track.
If this is just a button to press that locks the rear diff for track use, that seems useless to me (since I won't track it or go offroading).

I'm trying to understand the benefits of S version apart from hp/tq. S version also has different "elastokinematics" which normally just means bushings.

So here are the differences for the S over the non-S 4MATIC, per the press release:

1. Increased from 557 to 585 hp. From 531 to 590 lb-ft tq. 0.1 sec faster to 62 mph.
2. Matte grey wheels instead of gloss grey.
3. Front splitter, side sill panels, rear trim strip are all chrome.
4. Differential lock on rear axle.
5. "performance-oriented elastokinematics" (suspension bushings?) for "maximum neutrality" and "better feedback".
6. Red calipers instead of silver.
7. Inside: embossed headrests, sport steering wheel, LED door sills, electric rear blind, and contrasting stitching available.

This hints at a very expensive price premium for S, I'd guess >$10k. Doesn't sound worth it to me.

Hummmmmmmmm I like front open mouth design- sorta like my C63 Black Series but the sides and rear are still ho hum W212 design (to me).

But the AWD and 585 is a force.

Ill wait for the real deal before I pull the trigger (which you know I will probably do )

Not feeling the front or the rear of this car. To me it seems like a hot, confused jumbled mess. To each his own...

I do like however, the increased hp/tq and AWD.

Nice find as usual Miro
I like the new wheels on the CLS. Are those standard?
I can't wait to see pics of the Night option, the matte wheel and more interior with the stitching options.
I hope they keep pricing reasonable.
The little S badge does look like the Acura one but I could really care less. It is not that obvious and you could always debadge the entire car.
I wonder if the CLS will get the new E grille. I hope so.

I really like what they did with the rear diffuser and exhaust. hints from the CBS. It looks sweet. I hope the CLS gets this as well.
Did you notice the side molded piece under the doors. It adds a nice sporting look to the overall car.

That molded piece under the doors looks good in carbon fiber....look at the wheel pic above and you can see the edge of it
