What's your thoughts on this car?

I've been looking for a car for some time and ran across a 2011 E63 with 97 miles and a good amount of options on it. Only thing it doesn't seem to have is the performance package which I don't really care about. They're asking $80k and supposedly it'll come with the full factory warranty from time of purchase. Dealer says it's always been in their showroom. I'm not looking to mod a car.

Given the situation, I was thinking more in the low $70k range would be a more reasonable price. Not sure if they'll accept it, but worth a shot. Any thoughts on this? Am I better off looking for a newer model?

Thanks

It depends on what you want out of the car

2010-2011: naturally aspirated 6.2 liter v8
2012: twin-turbo 5.5 v8, I have driven both and the new motor is much quicker, up to 590 torque with performance package versus the 2011's 465
if you wait until 2014(really this summer): all wheel drive, 570 hp 590 torque, massively improved 0-60 time

If you want a luxury car with a good amount of power, go with the 2011. If you want a great performing, very fast car you cal live with every day, go with the 2012 or 2014(depending on if you want all wheel drive or rear wheel drive)

I'm sure you already knew most of this information, just pointing out your options.
I have a 2012 e63 perf. pack and love it, but i would not have been satisfied with the 2010-2011.

Supposedly it's a 2011 that never sold and has been sitting in the showroom it's whole life. I do find it odd that they are labeling it as "used" and the Carfax says it has less than 2 years of warranty left, but the guy said it qualifies for the full factory warranty. Not sure what's going on with it.

sketchy

was it a executive car? meaning that the dealers used it.....well i guess with 97 miles on it maybe not....but weird

usually the CPO cars will included existing warrenty from original purchase date, plus one year...that waht this one seems as u said that carfax says it has 2 yrs left.

what dealer is this

Ya it didn't add up for me, but they said its never been titled and its been at their dealership the whole time. Guess it wasn't a corporate car.

Intercar Mercedes in New Jersey.

Just for price reference, there is a '12 at my local dealer with 3000kms asking $82k......premium pack / no performance pack.

I'm assuming that dealer would be willing to negotiate and would accept an aggressive offer just to get it off the lot....

Looks bad when they have an untitled '11 and '14s are coming

get it into the 60s if u can

you know if u buy it the second u drive it off, it will be worth only 60ish anyways....as the car is now 2 yrs old, regardless of milage.....if u get it between 60-70 and it is a legit car, its a good deal as the car new is 90-100$

Not sure if the manager will go that low. When I spoke with him he said he's pretty close to where he wants to be with the $80k tag and said he would consider $78k. I think it's a dead end on this one. Would be curious to see how long it sits in his showroom.

AMG's are expensive to repair and maintain. with only two years left on warranty you would have to buy an extended warranty which will run you over $5000. the car should be in the high 60's. dealer near me wanted $68000 for 2011 e63 with performance and 9000 miles and they are know to be a high priced dealership.

If the car has truly been in the dealership that long, the manager has been wrong on what he has been asking for the car for a long time. If you had offered him 80 two years ago he would have laughed at you and thrown you out of the dealership, but he would have been wise to take it, freeing up either floorplan line of credit or true capital a long time ago that he could have turned into far greater profits. If he isn't happy with 70 now, he better damn well get ready to be happy with it because the second the new one is on the showroom floor that thing will drop like my 06 s65 did when the 07's came out, or like the e63 old bodies did when the new body came out, only perhaps more radically. If he doesn't sell it to you for sixty something, he could hold onto it for 50 more years or so and it will be a true low mileage classic! My advice to you, you are better off leasing the new one than buying that one at the wrong price because you are going to get demolished in depreciation just like that azz clown is about to.

I know this car reasonably well...as I was seriously interested in buying it.
It is (or was) at Intercar MB in Newton NJ. It is / was what they call a VIP car and it is new, (as in has not been punched). Full 48 month warrenty.
The VIP car's do not get an AMG Academy ticket with them....and the gent that is the sales manager (Reza) will nickel and dime you to death. To the point of nauseum....
BUT...it is a "showroomed" since new, it's as 040 black, 2011 NA 518hP Car. meaning it did not sit out on a lot for a long time like the Platinum Black one up in NY has. and has the typical 99015 MSRP that so many of them had back them.

Knowing Reza, only a fair and firm stance will get it from him. He had it advertized for 78992 (I think...2 weeks ago). and it is possible that a 75k out the door, with no trade might move him...but it is only worth that to someone willing to pay it....and by most accounts it is still too high. Ask for the VMI on it to see when it was last svc and history.....I recall it was August 2012. Flat spot tires will NOT be covered by MB...and may be a concern....but they are 18 and not 19 at least....I attached the bulid tag (4-11) and a pic for you. All the best to you, and I'll try to answer any other questions you might have...just wishing you luck man!

What is an AMG Academy ticket?

I may be better off getting a newer model as I did experience his nickel and dime approach. Very sad to see the car sitting.

From the hundreds of cars I've tossed into a spreadsheet, I would expect an asking price of $73k to $77k. And that agrees with what I've seen -- a local dealer just listed a black '11 with 9k miles for $74k. I just looked at it Saturday:

I agree with the new car approach. In the mid to high sixties it might be tempting and then only to a person with a real for an NA car.
Also, an AMG Academy ticket is your free one day AMG Driving Academy experience you get when you purchase a new AMG auto.
