Wheel help wanted!

I definitely need two sets of wheels. One summer tire wheel and one with snows on it here in Ohio to guarantee I can make it to work or pick up the little dude.
Options:
1. Keep stock wheels as summers, pick up an inexpensive 19" wheel and put winter tires on it. Something like:

Pros: Least expensive. ~$2600 for wheels/tires/tpms and shipping. Probably best summer ride with the stock 19s.
Cons: Most boring
Alternative: Get the OEM Forged 19"s or the Black 10 spoke 19"s...

2. Get new "summer" wheels and tires and put winter tires on the stock wheels.
Summer options:
Intermediate price:
Klassen M52-R:

High Price:
HRE P101s: Near $10k

Fiscally conservative:
Vorsteiner Flow Forged V-FF101

Thoughts? Color recommendations? Favorite dog?

Thanks,
X
in this thread with another winter wheel option if I can get a price quote with snow tires and shopping. These are very much 2013-2014 OEM and the flat black may be good in the winter with the decreased washing of the wheels and all the slush and crap on the road.Thoughts?

Stolen from Sonic Tuning...

I would think high end wheels would be a PITA to move on once its sale time... But I must admit I am considering a nice set of after markets for this car. I'll wait until I see some actual cars running them before jumping in though. I think you're a bit early is all.

I too want to see some aftermarket wheels on the new 2014s but can't hold back my excitement
. I sort want to do 20's too...If the M5 comes with 20's stock and pull of 21's, then we can easily do 20'sX
I originally wanted the MS189 wheels from Sonic Tuning due to the price and the look. I actually had a set on order, but thanks to TheOtherEric who rechecked my dumb math and suggested they might not fit so well given their offset.
So, I ran the numbers again and the fronts will not fit well without spacers which I didn't want to do...
I looked into TWS wheels at TOE's suggestion and decided on the TSW Interlagos wheel in matte black. The appropriate wheel selection is the 19x8.5" wheel in front with 32mm offset and the 9.5" wheel in rear with 41 mm offset.

This gives 11mm more clearance inside in the front though they do retract 1mm and in the rear you get 1mm more clearance inside and 11mm more poke which should fill out the rear fender nicely.
These were the recommended sizes and offsets from TSW.
I went with Michelin Alpin PA4 tires at 255/35 19 all around with TPMS.
I ordered from Frank at wheelsboutique.com since he had the best price, had availability and was fastest communicating. I expect the wheels in 10-14 days since the fronts have to come from CA.
I will update more when I have them.

I don't really care for the 10 spoke titaniums that are coming as standard installed equipment. Probably have them function as the winter wheel.
Looking for a something to work with Paladium in 19." Don't want to spend anything approaching $10K.
Plenty of options available on wheels direct.

I think I'm partial to the Brabus Monoblock R or the optional 2014 Five Spoke.

You can use several online wheel offset calculators to see what the change will do to the car. You don't want much less inner clearance because the wheels will rub on the suspension components. If you get too much poke, the wheels will look weird and may rub the fenders. The wheels and offsets have not changed from 2013 to 2014 so using wheels that will fit on the 2013, you should be fine.
Unfortunately, the black TSW Interalgos that fit the front of the E63 are sold out nation wide (They actually have one, but not a pair) The distributor sold one of the pair last week so my set fell through...

I really didn't want the silver ones so I went with the TSW Panoramas in matte black. They too are rotary forged but they weigh a bit more than the Interlagos. Another option is the TSW Nurburing wheels, but the REARS are sold out nation wide in gunmetal.
Good luck!

Congrats on your new set up!

That is the tread with the wheels for sale. I would think you would want 19x8.5" fronts with 35mm offset and 19x9.5" rears with 45mm offset.

In my research, winter tire options aren't great at 18" either.
Dunlop Wintersport 3D is the only true winter tire I could find:
FF 245/40-18 and RR 265/35-18 are ~ -1.2% and -1.8% off from stock.
The Nokian WRG3 is more of a 3 season tire. I ran these on my ML350.
FF 235/40-18 and RR 245/45-18 ~ -2.4% and -2.5%
Didn't check them against wheel widths, tho.
If anyone has more options, please offer them up.
For 19" the Pirelli SottoZero II is a direct fit in stock size.
Looking forward to some pictures of your setup when you get them!

The second, and more important reason to go with 255s in the rear is to be honest you don't want wide tires for snow/ice, thinner is weirdly better. So 285s in the rear would actually be worse for snow/ice traction than a 255.
Ever since, I been loyal to the mighty house of Nokian.
So, I have a bit of a mental block on returning to Pirelli for snows.

It seems the model number is T428725, but they are devilishly hard to find! Anyone know a distributor that has these and how much they are???
Blizzaks provide the best winter traction in snow and slush, but were not great in the dry.
the dunlop wintersport M3s were a nice balance and I would run them again.
The michelin Pilot Alpines were good, but not great when very cold out.
Considering how michelin has hit it out of the park with their PSS I am hoping they have made similar advances on their winter tires and I was going to try them.
I am hoping to stay close to OEM sizes, maybe come down one notch for width if I can and leave it at that. 4wd after all, traction should be a lot better than what I'm used to.

We run Hakka R's on the G Wagen. Only one season so far, but they were good the few times we asked them to be. It is a true snow tire. I wouldn't put them on the rig until there was an actual threat of snow. Maybe mid-December. They will wear fast on really warm pavement. Not unlike the B-stone Blizzak line.

The last set we bought was from a place in CT. http://www.importtire.com/
Disclosure: Fair prices. But I bought a set mounted ontake-offs with TPMS installed. Worst balancing I've ever seen. Product arrived on time.
Two sets ago was from a bigger dealer up in MI:

We also bought a set from a local mobile tire service. They've since gone belly-up. So they're no help.
Also bought a set from a place in IL, which I can no longer find on the web.
Years ago, it was difficult to find a good selection if you waited too long into the season. Of late, the supply chain has clearly been beefed-up.
The WR line can be put on and taken off at any point. They're not going to burn up on warm, dry pavement.
The best winter performance tire right now is the Michelin Aplin PA4 per tirerack and a few european reviews I found. Much better than the PA3 tire from last season. The Blizzack was rated best last season but this year the PA4 is supposed to be even better. Both dry and wet traction.
