An easier way to view the latest sales via Manheim. As noted above there is alot more to these cars that just the sale price. Possible announcements at time of sale, transport, recon, books, fees, etc. But you get the drift...
As for the car in question- who knows how it was driven or by who... Id only give it a bare bones offer as Id rather spend more and be able to break in the car my way. But cash is king and sometimes a deal is a deal so offer real low circa 70k if not high 60's.

Myself, I would not buy a car with the history of this one. I bought a used one a few months back and it was owned by the guys wife and babied, it had 12 K miles on it at the time and was like brand new.

These are internal production codes; I checked with a contact and this car based on those codes appears to be one of the very first 2012 models. Those codes denote as such.Originally Posted by sebis

Those codes have nothing to do with options.
Thanks, I think I am going to pass on this, very early car, a whole year of history not available in Carfax and no maintenance records, too much of a gamble. Thank you all for your assistance. I called MB USA yesterday and they won't disclose the history of this car even thou it was owned by Mercedes Benz Financial Services according to Carfax.

Wow, thank you! What a shame on MB USA to sell it as a certified vehicle... Here is the VIN in case anybody else runs into this: WDDHF7EB6CA473507.Originally Posted by Vic55

Wow very interesting. Weird that the test cars are in the states and not in Germany. Though even if it was a test car, that doesn't necessarily mean it was like an amg academy car getting abused. But, I suppose it could have been a press car which means its surely had a beating. Offer them $50.

Test mule...interesting. I guess that's possible since it is with MY2012 that they switched to the M157 engine. Of course there is a possibility it is one of the last test mules which might all be working fine, but that will be a big gamble. Even if you get the full 7 years factory warranty, it wouldn't be worthwhile if the car has to be in the service dept during most of your ownership. On the other hand, if they accept the offer of $50, I will still take it.
Hey, they do a lot of testing in the US, which is their largest market, right?

Nope it was perfect, not a scratch on the car, the tires were replaced at 9700 so she must have been a hot rodder but that's ok, these cars are built for it. It was traded in @ a Ferrari dealership.Originally Posted by otakki

If u can get it stupid cheap then it could be a steal
But because dealership is selling it they probably wont budge much.
So poor sucker may end up with it not knowing what we do

Well, I posted the VIN earlier, here I am posting it again. If someone will google it, this thread is already indexed if you search for this VIN: WDDHF7EB6CA473507 you'll eventually find this post. Hope they never sell it and have to auction it. I am pissed that they are selling a test car/mule as a certified vehicle...Originally Posted by vdubpower

At this point I would rather not waste my time anymore, plus they already lied to me once saying it was an "Executive" car.Originally Posted by vdubpower

Driving it hard is fine because that's what this car is designed for. The types of hard driving I frown upon are things like ramming up onto the tire stops and speed bumps, etc...Originally Posted by 2012 merc amg

Let me add to this post. I have a GL350 BTC with similar codes, but a couple additional: 018=Almost Customer ready/retrofit necessary and 911=Press Car and 981=No COC paper.Originally Posted by Vic55

I haven't identified the COC paper code?
With the above stated, I too, bought the car as a CPO in May, 2015 with 24,800 miles on the car. It also had new brakes, new tires and the whole CPO excercise.
This past weekend (12/15) the engine exploded while traveling 80 mph without any warning; idiot lights, temp or anything.
New $19K engine on order courtesy of M-B, but I am seriously concerned about the remaining life of the car. Transmission, other drive train components, etc.
Watch closely for the above referenced codes. At the time, I didn't make the effort to discover what they meant, and of course, no one at the dealership knew either.

My suggestion is to spend the extra money and search for newer E63 with 4matic. With a 2012, at some point in time, you'll become weary of the lack of traction flooring it off the line.

The cause is still under investigation. The dealership searched for a new engine and has found one somewhere. $19K according to the representative. The compressor and Goodness know what else was casualty to the blow up. I was told a rod came through and started the breakup process.
As mentioned, it was apparently a Press Car or something used for testing. I'm wondering if that fact needed to be disclosed to me prior to purchase...
Thanks for any insight.
