Unhappy I need sympathy, I am not unique ;)

Ok, I am throwing a one man pity party...

I drive into my garage at work today and what do I see parked nose out at me as I drive to an open spot? A brand new 2014 white E63 with black wheels and temp tags...

I know there will be new 2014 E63s in town, but based on what my dealer told me, there were 5 total allocations for the year in my city. I figured I would be as rare as the Tesla here, yet there will be another E63 parked just a few spots down from me! I have seen 2 F10 M5s since they have been released which made me think, heck, I will NEVER see one of 5 E63s in town.

Wrong...X is sad as he wanted to be special...(more special than the wife tells him he really is )

Kidding...a little

X

I guess if we really want exclusivity we need to spend a lot more $$$.

Your sentiment probably has a lot to do with why people mod their cars. When I first got my C63 there were few in town. I even had kids with cell phones taking vids of me coming in and out of parking lots.

Now they make so many of them that they are a dime a dozen and I see seveal every day.

I kind of hope the E63 will be different because it is at a higher price point but who knows.

I have yet to see another E63 other than mine. The Tampa store (which is where I got mine) only got one other car, and they are an AMG performance center. I am surprised how much attention this car gets.

'14 E63S, '13 G550, '06 E320 cdi, and a bunch of other stuff.
My regular dealer had ten customer orders in the queue. Plus the speculative builds. That's one store. Just one of about ten in the greater Wash DC area.

No way is production 10/week.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Meanwhile, if there is no hassle of having to rebadge it during a trade-in, I would really love to debadge mine so everyone would think it's just a E350 or E550. It's kind of hard to hide the exhaust tips and the brakes, though.

I de-badged my C63. They give you the letters and numbers stuck to tape to provide back at turn-in.

I'm going to de badge my E63 too. It is a lot of fun to smoke unsuspecting lesser vehicles.

I see plenty of Tesla's here in the Denver area. They are super popular! Could well be something I consider in 3 or 4 years time when they have all the wrinkles worked out plus AWD sorted.

Anyway, I've only seen one other 2014 E-class driving about never mind another E63. I think it will be a very rare car here in Colorado for a while to come. Audi's on the other hand are a dime a dozen here! Seen plenty of RS5's even.

Debadging is all well and good, I had my DBS de-badged (no one ever knew wth it was), but there's no mistaking the quad exhausts, the break calipers, and that rumble of the E63!

There is one other E63S in my medium sized Florida town but I havn't seen it yet. I have seen a lot of people say on this board that the E 63 gets a lot of attention. I have experienced quite the contrary. I have had my car for about a month and put 1000 miles on it and I have yet to get one complement or comment on the car. I am definitely digging the subtle look of the car because I daily drive it and don't want to attract that kind of attention. I have had many Porsches in the past and been annoyed at all comments about how sick for car is or asking what I do for a living.

Yes, I agree, my 2012 E63 AMG Wagon gets very little attention, it sorta looks like a soccer moms car until one notices the quad exhaust tips and brakes, but that's all fine by me. I use to drive a CTS-V wagon and I got sick of all the attention it got when I was getting gas and all the questions, I like the way the AMG drives a lot better than than the V and it performs better and its more comfortable and that's all that matters is how I feel about the car.

the difference is that the people that notice this car and appreciate what it is are "generally speaking" not morons that like anything red, flashy and look like a batmobile. chances are they have owned a BMW, Benz or something similar before and can appreciate the subtle craftsmanship of an AMG car. I think its the perfect amount of attention. I really cannot stand getting the type of attention I got when I owned an NSX some years ago. It was horrible, I swear every single time I drove it, whether I was at a red light, a gas station, on the phone, or parking at the mall, some idiot would interrupt my day and ask me a bunch of stupid questions. I drove the car 800 miles in 2 years. the only good thing about that one is i sold it for 9k more than what I had paid, but if you cant enjoy the car what good is that.

Yes I fully agree, I have had some people compliment me on the AMG who knew what it was, most people think it's just a regular Mercedes Wagon though and that's just fine. The main reason the CTS-V attracted more attention was because it was more flashy as you said. Best move I ever made though getting the AMG, I traded in a 2013 CTS-V Wagon with 9900 miles on the clock for a 2012 AMG Wagon and could not be happier, it was an extra 20 grand well spent.

Like Camrys LOL------- Im sure that was tongue in cheek but at least the fully loaded Tesla looks good (IMHO) and performs good (to about 100 LOL).

They have a 'business edition' that can be specially ordered in Europe. Not sure about NA though.

Gets rid of all the flashyness and also the quad tips

The 10 / week stat is how many wagons they are building.

My wagon is being started on Nov 3rd. I didn't know they worked on Sunday's over there.

So it's okay to just give the emblems stuck on tape back to them at the end, then? Would they say anything about it? I have a feeling they are going to charge me an arm and a leg to put them back on. You know they will always try to find things to decrease the value of your trade-in.

Debadging a DBS?!...I don't think that's gonna work. Sorry to tell you you have wasted your effort there when coming across a car enthusiast.

I would love to have that if it's available in the US. But like one person had commented below the article: "In America, 'Money talks', but in Europe, 'Wealth whispers.'" That goes to show you how loud we Americans are.

My dealer is fine with the debaged letters going back. But I have a good relationship with them and generally I'm not a nickle and dimer and trade $ for service preference all the time.

Personally I would prefer the E63 to be a bit louder in appearance. To each their own!

Vic, that's hurtful! I am an only child and the only thing that matters is how I feel I am not worried about his feelings.

The Tesla is a slick looking car. Too bad I would have to go to Georgia or Chicago to drive one...5-6 hours away.
