My tuned E63S vs my tuned Audi S8 at drag strip, both on 93 Octane, and me driving.

 

Wow not much in it at all... Great times for both cars!

 

I was able to test drive a 13 S8 and came real close to pulling the trigger but the functionality of the E63S wagon won me over. I figured the performance of the two would be close. Congrats on having one of each.

 

Well done. The S8 is scary fast without a tune, with a tune....hmmm.... the ultimate sleeper. Any issues at all with the Renntech tune on the 2014 E63 S motor?

Nice times. Are those runs on street tires? The high 60 foot times (1.8's) for both cars is what's skewing the ET's. With the 124 trap speed, the E63 was capable of a 11.0 if not better with a 1.5 60 footer.

 

Karl, where are you in Fla?. I'm a snowbird too and near Sarasota and race at Bradenton Dragway. I can only imagine what your new 2014 would do for times with a AMS tune and the larger turbos and downpipes, probably mid 10's I'd think, well at least with slicks, maybe even low 10's.

 

2012 MERC AMG, in West Palm, come over and I will run my CLS63 2012 with Renntech turbo upgrade at PBIR Strip.
Grip Grip, all tires are stock, cars are stock except for ECUtunes. Audi low first and second gear, remember it is a 8 speed, launch the S8, it seem a lot quicker then the E63, also the Audi has a little more rubber, 275s x4 on 21s, vs E63 255/285 on 19s. But the E63S launch is much more controlled.
The E63S tune should be closer to 11. I ran the S8with 100 Octane shown below.

S6/S7 guys would need DP's, tune and intake to trap near a S8 with tune and 100 oct.

 

When I test drove S8, it felt far stronger than rated. Biggest issue for me is lease for S8 is $2060/month. No earthly reason a car with same MSRP should lease for $6-700 more/month. AoA finance is stupid. Bentley dumped them, leased 3000 V8 Conti's with new guys.
Now is time to use OPM.
Nice numbers. Abt has kits for S6-7-8, but bring 10-12k. S8 not worth 25-35k more.

Impressive time to say the least on the S8. I wonder what the tuner claims in crank hp. As others have stated the car must be seriously under rated to be able to run as quick as a 700hp Renntech E63. Obviously the trap speed shows the E63 past the quarter mile is going to pull on the S8.
I would have expected better on the E63S as our tunned CLS with Adrian ran within a tenth of your time. Trap speed for Adrian was actually close to 129.
I suspected that the 4matic would be of tremendous help for the 0-60 but would actually hinder past 100mph. Sure looks like it.

 

AMG programers have something limiting the output of the the E63S 4matics.
The old RWD E63 would run with a tune only 11.2sec 1/4mi.
All the tuner have seen same results

 

thats too bad its "limited" as with 4wd the drivetrain could probably handle those "800Hp " turbo modded monsters

i guess one of the tuners will really have to do some good R and D and be the ones who can crack the code first....lets see who can do it...

 

GAD is running the 4Matic with the 5.5 in C63 Black Series and kicking over 800 HP....and it sounds like they are putting the power down too.

But its probably not the same 4Matic as in the 14's. It won't be long before that's cracked.....

I expected the E63 To be faster when tuned even against a tuned S8. I am sure the drawback is from the Merc's transmission. Maybe the AWD is putting more load yo rotate than we expect.

 

My E63Sis just a tune only, and I saw the Dyno sheet and the the Torque peaks like a Rwd M157 engine, but start to tapper off as rpm goes up.

 

Karl, if you had to pick just one to drive every day, which would it be?

 

That is easy, the E63S, way more sporty.
