2014 Mercedes E63 AMG S vs Tesla S P85+ which one to buy?

for any everyday car I doubt I will ever go back to a regular car, AMG/M, etc...
the ride, smoothness, and tech is well ahead of anything else out right now... never mind that is costs next to nothing to drive, free tolls, and no service....
rumor has it there will be and AWD 600HP Model S, sure hope so!

Test drove one yesterday. Gotta say i was surprised at how much i liked it. Much more powerful then id expected it to be, and the in car technology is amazing, far beyond mercedes. Though the interior was not as refined feeling as mercedes, not as plush and comfortable. Once they add adaptive cruise control, lane tracking, and seat massage/cooling features it would be easily on par with mercs.
As for range, the sales woman showed us all the current and upcoming super charger locations crisscrossing the country. According to her by 2015 the charging stations will be in enough places that you can do coast to coast without having to worry about running out of juice. Toss in that my office has a number of stations to charge EVs, I could easily just charge it there and not at home (for free!).
IMO once they improve the interior comfort a bit more id easily be swayed towards Tesla instead

I wonder how long it would take to drive a Tesla coast to coast factoring in whatever number of charges it would need and how much time each charge would take? Probably not a good candidate for the Cannonball Run.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Another thing to also keep in mind is: What's the iihs/nhtsa/ncap's safety rating and structural strength for the Tesla and how does it compare to the W212 body?

I've had all of that, never use dynamic seats, annoying after a few uses, lane change is super annoying, I turn that off in my 650i...
few things I would like in the Tesla are blind spot monitoring and surround cameras....
stop and go distronic like in the S class would be nice as well...

Agreed, that much power would be amazing! As i posted my only holdback is the various 'toys' ive come to love in my E (distronic, lane keeping, dynamic driver seat, etc). Get those into a Tesla and im sold. The sales woman also mentioned that in the next year they are going to launch a new model that will be around $35k. Once those go on sale and the Prius group starts buying em, i imagine we will se a ton more of them on the road

This isn’t exactly scientific research that you present. The E63 driver doesn’t have a clue about how to launch his car. After the crappy launch the AMG is blowing past the Tesla when the video ends. In addition to seeing better performance#’s for the E63 in the car magazines (driven by guys who know how to drive), my neighborhood is filled with Tesla S’s. A couple of them have tried to show they were faster than my E63. All have failed. Either the Tesla S is slower than a base 2012 E63 or they’re driven by pretentious, trendy nerds who don’t know how to drive. I believe both to be true.
