Goodbye 2014 E63 S AMG
The E is definitely one of the best performing four door sedans that I've ever owned, except for the transmission, which drove me crazy. Paddle shifting with a 500 RPM delay is tough. I must say, however, that the car was a blast in sport plus mode, pushing it to redline.
The 911 is an interesting car, smooth as silk and docile until you put it in sport plus with PDCC. Revs and boost jumps and so does the car. Ran it in the canyons today and was very impressed with the PDC transmission, it put me in the right gear 95% of the time.
Anyway, it was good hanging out on this board over the last few months - take care and enjoy your E63s, the car is a beast!
It's a very old transmission and its showing its age.
It has had updates and revisions, but that's like a 90yo woman with enough plastic surgery to make her look 25. Sure you could call her hot, sexy, and young looking, but the performance where it matters will still be lacking vigor. (no personal experience with this analogy).
The other problem is the fact that right now it looks like Mercedes/AMG has absolutely no intention on fixing/replacing it.

Regardless the E63 is a great car that put a smile on my face every time I drove it. Unfortunately I was looking for something that was a step down from my Lamborghini that I could daily drive. And yes, I took a serious beating trading in the E63. As they say life goes on and I can't think of a better way to go on than in a stock car that hauls azz.
While agree w everything ur saying, it's kind of dumb to compare a 4 door executive q-ship, to an all out sports car. They are different class of cars with different purposes
But, keeping all my AMGs!
The GT3 is the "all out sports car" in the P car line up - the TT is the "touring" car - just spend a day at the track and you'll see
Why constantly compare apples and oranges - The E63 is not trying to be a sports Coupe - and it's relatively understated look is what I need in my daily driver - and am not embarrassed by it, or feel like I'm trying to draw attention to myself in ANY setting - yet still see "car" guys eyeballing it with awe and appreciation.
I have no problem with transmission for the application it is used in, it's a road car 1st, not really a track car - it actually rec'd more points then the M5 dct in the latest R&T comparison - that it finished second to.
If you want true driver involvement, get a true sports car with a 3 pedals and a 6 speed - nothing else can compare to proper heel & toe shifting, along with rotating and dancing on the edge - it's becoming a lost art.
We have more than one car... some on here have more than 3 or 4.
If I'm out looking at cars, I could replace the E63 if I see a cool uber-wagon. If I see a really cool truck, I could replace the truck. If I see a really cool track weapon (or if I see another 991 GT3) I could replace the Z06.
Are we cross shopping trucks, wagons, and GT3s? Kinda, but not really.
