Clutch engaging sound?

Hi,

In any mode, c s s+ m, when first accelerating from a stop u hear what sounds like the clutch engaging... Is this normal? It drives fine and is very smooth... With hard acceleration from a stop it's not heard as I think this process happens very quickly. Also I don't hear it everytime.

I also feel a very very slight vibration in the floor boards for about 1/2 a second.

Thanks in advance

The E63 doesn't have a Torque Converter. It has a startup wet clutch.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
A clutch pack in place of a torque converter.

Still getting this sound/subtle vibration a few times early in the drive... Straight or with turning lasts a quarter or half second and then gone, less than 5% of the time... I guess it's normal ... Drives normal

Could it be the center differential or even the braking system?

I get it less in sport+ mode than comfort. I think it's the mild vibration the wet clutch engaging and part and parcel of this MCT.

Can the LSD make any noise at low end?

The LSD doesn't do anything until there is wheel slip. Even then, it is only a 40% or so locking diff and so it won't clunk like a 100% mechanical diff when it locks.

I think you are overly sensitive.

I know of your past issues. I have had my tranny shift hard it to different gears at different times. I don't really worry about it.

I know when I drove early MCT cars, I noticed the hesitation and vibration. I haven't noticed it on my current car.

Thanks benyl -- I appreciate your input -- I am overly sensitive on this car, and I appreciate your understanding of what I'd been through.

Sounds good .. will put this one to rest. Cheers
