Good day
Coming off a lease of another car and thinking of purchasing a 10 or 11 e63.
In the ontario canada market there are not too many options.
With a car from those years there is a good chance that there will be little factory warrantee left.
In comparable cars, on average it would cost about 10k more to purchase a comperable car from mb vs third party.
Question is if you found a low mileage car with a documneted service history and no record of damage, would you purchase third party and not have the option of the mb extended warrantee?
Thanks vets

Don't know how it works in Canada, but in the states, you can still buy the MB extended warranty when the car is purchased from a third party as long as there is some of the original warranty still in effect. In fact if you buy a non CPO from a MB dealer you are not eligible for the MB extended warranty where if you would buy the same car from a third party you would be eligible.
Unfortunately in Canada buying a MB extended warrantee is not an option if the car is purchased third party even if there is factory warrantee remaining. Can only be done if purchased CPO from MB.
I purchased the wife a two year old ml550 third party a couple years ago and learned that after the fact! Even when I asked if I could pay for the same 150 point inspection or what not to make sure it is up to their standard in order to qualify they refused.
In hindsight that led me to find what I think is the best private MB guy around that I now go to. The kind of guy that when I've had a computer issue will work on it for an hour or so and then tell me not to worry about paying because he did not use any parts! Has done a phenomenal job for me and for several friends I have since referred to him.
Even with that however, I worry about having a 63 out of warrantee and that it might get ridiculous to maintain. Not sure if there are any decent aftermarket warrantee's up here for this vehicle. With a very young family not so much about having the money to maintain as not wanting to make a silly decision.
Maybe check out a 550 instead a little newer?
Am coming off a lease of an Infiniti M56s that has been allot of fun and was looking to take it up a notch

You might want to go to the horses mouth, i.e. MB customer service. Case in point, I bought my car from a out of state third party dealer. Making a long story short, I went to my local dealer and inquired about the MB extended warranty and they to told me I wasn't going to be able to purchase the warranty. I checked around and found I was eligible and purchased one. So I would check on it with a reliable source. That being said my car has been rock solid. The only problems I've had is a headlight that went out and a bad home link mirror. I do think I have a problem with my window switch that will have to be taken car of. The thought of a major repair though could cause you nightmares. Good luck with what ever you decide upon.

And what was the covered cost of the headlight and the mirror?
I just got a courtesy replacement on the two sun visor/vanity mirrors in my g wagen... each was $400 installed.

That's another thing I don't like about my dealer. They only list the work done and not the associated costs.

All the other dealers I've went to (not MB) listed the costs on the work sheet and put warranty or NC in the total due. I thought maybe they didn't want to scare me away with the price of repairs.
