carbonio airbox didnt make any power :(
Hi, as you know I was posting stock runs of my car with the row and carbonio airbox....
unluckily the car did not change in power with both the box's.
276.6rkw peak for both (stock and with carbonio).
Another amg did get 301kw stock but my throttle opening was at 50% the whole way but his car was at 80%...(he had the row airboxs with stock filters)
Quite disappointed, also my heat shield from the exhaust headers was missing for one side as the previous owner may have tinkered with the car.

they should not have fake dyno charts or fake power gains on their website is all I have to say.
BUT, with a dyno tune due to the 12% bigger volume I may be able to get 2-5hp more at the wheels..

As much as I would love a refund, I doubt I would get one.
But one thing this post has done for future buyers of carbonio to not trust the fake power gains etc.
Bigger inlets would yes give more air intake but unless the inlets are changed on an e63 it wont matter.
I know for the c63 there are bigger air inlets out there which do work.
Not quite sure why anyone hasn't designed this for the e63.

Srsly. I don't get it.
The product is know to have a finish that fails. And now documented zero power gains.
That's a bad product. It's not as if the vendor is giving these things away. Hold their feet to the fire, and get your dosh back. No reason to play ben dover.

OP, sorry to hear your story, but I am not at all surprised. Generally speaking, claims that airboxes and air filters make power are as reliable as snake oil.

I always pay with amex and print of ad for specifics... if I don't get what the selling is saying their products will do... then I don't mind shipping back on my dime but I'd like what's promised or $ back.

I've found Carbonio's customer service to be top notch. I'd give them a call since you're not satisfied with their product. The worst they'll say is no.

With these super sedans there are no bolt on instant horsepower gains. With the thousands of sensors and computers talking to each other to provide the exact setting for the best performance, they need exact information. By bolting something on the car without telling the computers what has been changed is a waste of time and money and could possibly damage your car. Most companies lie or conceal truths to sell their products. Some when caught will do the right thing and refund your money, other rely on the age old adage "buyer beware".

100% correct, also with these cars each motor is the same but different at the same time.
Some e63 6.3s come with 300kw at the wheels, some come with 276, some with more or less.
Each hand built and slightly different.
I've come to know this fact as when the guy showed 4 different e63s lined up stock from on a dyno they produced all different amounts of power.
Now in saying that if you go with renntech or any other company they will give you a generic tune which may or may not give your cars many gains or how it will affect the motor in the long run.
My whole idea of modifying this car changed when I found these little things out, so Im going with a custom dyno tune.
