Any complaints with the "active" blind spot and lane keeping features?
I want the driver assistance package, but the more I read about Active blind spot and Active lane keeping assist, the more I worry about it. My Q7 blind spot warning lights up all the time even when, though tight, it's still clear to change lanes (aggressively albeit). It even lights up on the 405 when the center median gets pretty close to the left lane, especially in gentle left curves. Has anyone with the '14 wagon have any input on their experiences?

I'll be a slightly dissenting voice. The blind spot functions work very well, however, I think the active lane assist is a bit too sensitive and intervenes when the car is too far away from a solid line (i.e. sometimes it intervenes when my left wheels are still a foot away from a solid line, which I think is a touch too soon). That being said, I would still prefer the car with this technology than without.

The only time I turn lane assist on is if I've been driving a long time and I'm tired, other than that I'm not crazy about the lane assist because as was said it can be a little bit annoying and I'm sure the brake pads would wear out more quickly with it on all the time as it does apply brakes to the opposite side to correct steering if you go far enough over the line. The poster above who said it signals or corrects before the car actually goes over the line, sounds like you need the camera's re calibrated. the Camera's are housed just below the rear view mirror and the dealer can re calibrate them if they are not lined up right. Sometimes if a windshield has been changed this needs to be done. I recently replace a windshield and got lucky in that they are still calibrated fine.

This is the first car I have had with blind spot assist. The lights do seem to go on even when no one is around, so much so that I don't really rely on it. So I'm not overly impressed. It may be me and I just don't know exactly how to use/react to it. The Lane assist is an interesting feature I just leave it on and am half amused when it tries to intervene. There is absolutely no substitute for situational awareness however, and I will always continue to use the mirror and physically turn my head.
On a side note I really like the active drive and cruise control, it really works well. The steer assist doesn't work for longer than a few seconds before it realizes you don't have your hands on the steering then freaks out and goes limp on you. It's also only meant for very very slight turns.

I don't have it but it sounds like a good system to have on long boring highway cruise when I have a sandwich in one hand and need to let go the steering for a few seconds to reach into a bag of chips or grab a drink with the other hand

please tell me you're kidding. Anyone who tries to bring a sandwich into my car and eat it gets 86'ed for life. Including my kids!

If you rest your leg gently against the wheel it will continue to work. As long as the sensor has something to sense it doesn't know the difference.

Can't go hungry on a long drive. I usually opt for wrapped things like burritos since I can hold it easily with one hand. Moreover, having hungry kids in the back shrieking at the top of their lungs plus an angry wife screaming due to growling stomach will absolutely ruin the drive, regardless of how fun the car is to drive.
Steering with leg!...We all do that, don't we?! So much easier with bare skin while wearing shorts.

Surgical Suite, lol. That comment reminded me of that SNL Skit back in the 70's where they mocked an ad for the Lincoln town car having a jewish Doc perform a circumcision in the back of the car on a Jewish baby saying the car was that smooth. Anybody remember that one?
