2015 USA W212 Dealer Ordering Guide (DOG)

My sales rep sent me the 2015 DOG today and you can find it attached at the end of the post. A few things to note- DOG doesn't list everything that is available such as designo choices (aside from the renamed Diamond White and Cardinal Red), exterior CF pack, CF engine cover, night styling, etc:

Power Folding Mirrors finally come to the US and is part of the Premium 1 pack which is standard for the USA AMGs.

Carbon Ceramic Brake price went up from $8,950 in 2014 to $12,650 in 2015. I hope this is a typo as the CCB used to be ~$13,000 when they launched on the 2010 SLS and they lowered the price in 2014 for the E. Doesn't make sense that it'd go back up again.

I heard from the AMG Private Lounge that the Night Styling Package will include more blacked out items such as the window frame surrounds- but there's no info regarding that on this version of the DOG.

I'm told that the ordering banks will likely open this week. I'm excited as I'll finally be able to place my order! I've been looking at getting this car since early April which was too late to order a designo 2014 and for 2015 MB decided to do a late launch so I was stuck in limbo for a few months.

Hopefully that carbon ceramic price hike is incorrect.

No folding mirrors on my 14. Guess I need to head to Home Depot for some hinges to keep current.

Uh Oh. Nappa Leather is now Optional.

There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth in MBW land.

S63 sedan carbon ceramic price is the $89xx price so I'm guessing (hoping) that the bump back to $12K is an error.

Wow, so in 2015, "S-Model" owners will need to pay $1,370 for Napa leather and $850 for AMG lighted door sills, although both options were free in 2014. But MB will toss in folding mirrors.

Glad I bought a 2014! LOL. Usually they add free stuff over time, not the opposite.

CCB price seems to be the canadian price... I hope for you guys in the US that it's a mistake!

7 spoke AMG wheels must be a new design (2014 forged are 5 spoke and std 10 spokes...) anyone saw pictures? Could be the SLS 7 spokes...

I went to the dealer to look at their computer's ordering system- I don't recall seeing illuminated door sills as an add on so maybe it's standard? Yeah, fantastic that we now have to pay for nappa leather. I plan to order a designo interior so I wonder if I'll be charged the $1,370 for nappa and the ~$1,180 for designo interior- my sales rep says no since designo is already nappa.

Good catch with the wheels. I'm curious on the design as well or if it's a typo. Does the 2014 DOG list the 5 spoke forged rims with the same 770 option code?

Another note- on the dealer's computer you can order the non S polished 10 spoke rims. That explains why we see some S models with those wheels despite any literature saying you can get those wheels.

The 2014 was underpriced. They should have raised the price mid year. Instead, they listened to chorus of the loud who demanded folding mirrors (?) and took out some nice little touches.

I'd rather have nice seating surfaces than blingy wing mirrors.

$0.02

I just checked the 2014 DOG and it shows the illuminated door sills are standard for S and optional for non S. So perhaps the same can be applied here for 2015.

Ace- premium nappa leather can still be ordered so IMO 2015>2014 since pre 2014 you don't get the power folding mirrors. More choices for the consumer is better than someone up top not letting you get certain things. My $0.02. Just hope MSRP is lower to reflect less standard equipment.

Also, the code for the 2015 7 spoke forged wheels (770) are different than the 2014 5 spoke forged wheels (785).

Attached is the 2014 DOG.

not sure I like the 770 wheels (last to the right). Will have to see it on actual E63 to appreciate the look.

How do we know for sure that's option code 770?

The design is very similar to the C-Class sport pack wheels (albeit those are 18"). Would they really make the same design one as forged and one not in different sizes? (According to the MBUSA website there is no mention that the C wheels are forged)

The 2015 DOG above clearly says otherwise; AMG sills are now $850 on the S Model. Unless it's a mistake.

So Nappa and illuminated door sills no longer standard, and carbon ceramic price back up to the old price.
A roughly $6000 price hike, before any base price increase, if you were to want a car with these options.

Yup. I'm quite surprised to see so many fast ones pulled on us after only a one year model change after a facelift. I don't recall other model lines being screwed with so much. This will be even more ridiculous if base MSRP goes up as well. If anything it should be lower by the nappa leather and illuminated door sill options. Not to mention mid year 14s and 15s lose the power rear headrest release button.

I'm not surprised about the power rear headrest release - I think that might be a safety issue.

But the decontenting is severe. I think (hope) that since this pdf is titled draft that we may see that some of these things (esp the leather) are edited and actually are still standard.

It's not a safety issue. MB has had it since at least the 90s. It's clearly a cost saving measure. If it were a safety issue MB wouldn't have put it in in the first place.

Sedan DOG also states that there's no longer the side net in the trunk. This is also a clear discontenting of the car. That part is probably a sub $100 item over the parts counter at the dealer yet they're nickel and dime-ing us here and there.

Oh well- what can we do? Either bend over and take it, don't buy the car, buy new old stock, or buy used.

The following is what I posted on the AMG Private Lounge. Hopefully I'll get some answers from corporate regarding our concerns:

So let's recap what's different for MY14 vs. 15 for USA cars.

The Good:
Standard Power Folding Mirrors

The Bad:
Optional Nappa leather- used to be standard $1,370
Optional Illuminated Door Sills- used to be standard on S AMG cars $850
Carbon Ceramic Brake Price Increase- Now $12,625 Used to be $8,950 in 14 a $3,675 price increase
No more power release rear headrests
No trunk net for sedans

I hope this DOG is not finalized and these pieces can be adjusted for a modified version of the DOG.
If this is what the final DOG will look like- unless the power folding mirrors are an obscenely expensive thing to add (which they aren't)- the MSRP should in theory go down for the 15 model year. I sure hope so.

Also a general pricing question:
Why is the Exterior Carbon Fiber package $5,500 for both the sedan and the wagon. The exterior CF pack for the sedan adds the front splitter, mirrors, side skirts, diffuser, and rear wing while the wagon gets all of the same pieces less the spoiler. So shouldn't the wagon's exterior CF be cheaper than the sedan?
