From a 13 C63PP to a 14 E63s

Traded my 13 C63 P31 for a 14 E63s. Fourth AMG I have had (E55, 2 C63's). The mods on the E63s have begun...switched out the start button for the red carbon fiber button, put on the AMG carbon fiber rear plate bracket, and tinted the windows. Next on my list is a carbon fiber rear spoiler and....yes the exhaust.

There is a lot I like about the E63s but man do I miss the raw sound of the C63.....it's like driving a NASCAR when you start it, get on it, and when it backfires. The E63 seems like someone has turned the volume down or hit the mute button.

Honestly, after a week with the new ride, the only thing I am underwhelmed with is the sound. So...next on my list is to wake this thing up.

The thread on replacing the resonator with straight pipes seems like a great simple solution vs spending $3-4k for downpipes that essentially remove the resonator as well. I welcome any other solutions you guys may have. Thx so much!

Congrats on the purchase. Do the sound right and get some RADO downpipes installed. $1500 shouldn't be a problem with a bit of negotiation.

Something other members have reported was to drive around with the rear seats folded down. This will allow some additional sound to come into the cabin. You can use that as a bandaid solution until you do something with the exhaust!

Nice The W212 E63 is a monster of the car.

Congratulations on the sale.

Some tasteful mods and you got a winner in my books.

Would recommend new wheels if you after that and for the system I would say Meisterchaft or Akrapovic as a very good choice.

They complement the vehicle very well.

Sorry but that's rice. You dont drive around a E63 with the back seats down so you can hear the exhaust noise.

Question on the RADO or any downpipes (without cats)...will I have to get a tune to prevent from throwing a code?

Not if you get the version with high flow cats, which sounds just as good.

Many folks have had success just removing the resonator at a local muffler shop. Cheap too.

Start with the resonators. It's cheap and less likely to void the warranty (and doesn't violate any federal laws...lol).

Oh and get a tune

Hello 11's!!

That's why I suggest he just do that as a bandaid until he gets a real exhaust mod.

Macarbon. The link is above. I got mine 2 years ago. Demand has been high, so the price has gone up. The quality is great!

Does it light up behind the lettering "start/stop" like the oem? Plug and play right?? This is the coolest easy mod I've seen in a while ... Will look great against black and black ash

The start button does not light up, its a CF weave behind red resin. A simple swap with the OEM button. It really adds a nice touch. I have them in all my cars

To the OP, i highly recommend a tune and downpipes to fully appreciate the beast. Whenever I drive a stock E63/CLS63 they feel so slow and sluggish by comparison.

I'm going from a 12 63PP with a Velos tune to a E63S as well and was concerned with the sound...Never going to get that 6.3 raw power sound again which is disapointing. The turbo motors are great they just dont have the same bark.

I got the resonators removed and the sound increased by about 15%-20% I could do with more though. ;-)

Even the letter don't light up, their website says they start with oem start button

It's plug and play right?
