I have heard whispers that it is much more compliant than the 997. Thats would put it back in the running, though I'd like a 'vert, and the 991 T-S vert is quite spendy.

Did you drive other similar cars? What did you think?
I actually had an opportunity to drive all of these cars in the class (458, Huracan, GTR) at Exotics Racing in Vegas in October. I found the 991 Turbo to be the most comfortable and luxurious and liveable although it does not have the beautiful engine noise of the NA 458 and Huracan. It was also the fastest around the track for me.

I think the 991 Turbo S is very comfortable and liveable as a daily driver. There are plenty available to test drive at Porsche dealers. Do it and see for yourself. It is a lot more comfy and luxurious than the 997 Turbo S was. Not even close in fact.

Got massive discount ($24,240 or about 13% under MSRP). Accordingly, I decided to transfer my ADV1 order (ADV005 track spec CS) from the E63 S to the 991 TTS. Wheels had not been machined yet but did incur a change fee because they'd already been engineered for the E63S and had to be reengineered for the 991 TTS. In 991 TTS guise the wheels are 20s just as the stock wheels are. With the car's massive carbon ceramic brakes, 19s are not even possible.

So the HREs will serve as my E63 S's summer wheels with the (to me) homely titanium color stockers serving as winter wheels. The 991 TTS will use its standard wheels (mine came with the 5 lug Turbo wheels and not the center lock TTS wheels) for the winter set and the ADV005 track spec CS wheels will serve as its summer wheels.

Also due to the Porsche I scaled back my E63 S mods a bit. No laser jammers/hidden radar detector. Those will be in the Porsche which I will take on the Goldrush Rally. Also not expel wrapping the whole E63 S -- doing front end, A pillars, mirrors and rockers and wheel arches. The 991 TTS will get a complete xPel wrap. And passing on upgrading the E63S stereo. Gotta pay for a GIAC stage 2 flash and Europipe exhaust for the 991 TTS.
Well the 991 Turbo S is now at Detailing Dynamics in Mineola, Long Island and is undergoing extensive modding. On December 26th it received a full wrap in the XPEL Ultimate clear bra. Pics are below. Note how Detailing Dynamics removed all of the exterior parts to ensure that there are no visible seams in the XPEL. This is quite labor intensive and time consuming but ensures the best looking result.

Yesterday it received 50% tints and Clearplex on the windshield. Next up are laser jammers and integrated radar detector with display in the rearview mirror. Then front and rear parking cameras. Then all the performance mods.

Detailing Dynamics continues to work on modding the 991 TTS over the holidays and has now installed the tints and Clearplex. Pics are below.

Next up are the laser jammers/radar detector and the front/rear parking cameras.

What brand laser jammers/radar detector are you getting? There are some major changes going on in that area now, especially with laser protection.

I am getting the AL Priority laser jammers. These seem to be the most modern and best equipped for the newer laser guns. http://www.alpriorityusa.com http://radarandlaserforum.com/conten...-Head-Shootout

For the radar detector I am going with the BELLTRONICS Sti-R Plus system.

Good choice. I have STi-R plus with Laser Interceptors in both MBs and they work very well in the NY/NJ area. But the AL Priority is the new laser king. Stinger is another vendor that is showing a lot of potential.

What an awesome setup - I am curious how well the Clearplex bra and laser jammer will work. I noticed that it works like parking aid, too. Hmm might have to get parking sensors .

Thanks. The Clearplex is only for the windshield. The XPEL ultimate is wrapped around the entire exterior other than the glass. The laser jammers have 2 sensors on the front and 2 on the rear. And yes they also work as parking sensors which can be helpful on traffic stops.

Eddie from Detailing Dynamics recommended the AL Priority over other brands of laser jammers. His recommendation was backed up by my own research which indicates that at least for now it is the most effective laser jammer. Apparently the newer police lasers have made some of the current laser jammers ineffective.

I am really curious about Clearplex because of it being on the windshield. My wife sure could use it in DC beltway traffic.

It is meant to protect against impacts and prevent chipping/cracking from road debris.

The product works really well. The Clearplex takes all of the rock chips and damages the film instead of your glass. After being pelted with rocks for several years you can replace it with a new film for another "fresh" finish.

Exactly why I got it on the 991 Turbo S and am getting it on the E63 S.

Sorry if I asked you before, but are you wrapping the whole E63 as well?

If you don't mind me asking, how much does your neck of the woods charge for full car wraps? Local to Seattle area at top notch shops are asking ~$7,500 to do a wagon. I hear it's like $3,000 at a good shop in LA... my area just seems crazy expensive.

I'm going to do a partial XPEL Ultimate wrap of the E63S from Detailing Dynamics. Entire front end, mirrors, a pillars as well as rockers and wheel arches.

In the New York area a complete wrap of the car by a top-notch installer is about $5000. There's a range but that's about the median. A partial wrap like I'm talking about is in the low $2000s in New York, again from a top installer. I contacted all the top shops in the New York area before going with Detailing Dynamics. I'm not saying that's the price I paid as I'm getting extensive mods from Detailing Dynamics on both my 2014 991 Turbo S and the 2015 E63 S as part of a very big package.

But à la carte, a full XPEL wrap from a top New York city area installer should run about $5K.

Clearplex is for your windshield. Are you referring to that or XPEL? Given your comment on finish I assume you're referring to XPEL. You can do an XPEL finish at any point in the life of the car. But you would want to do paint correction first. A good installer will do that as part of the package.b Once the pain is corrected and brought to perfection then they will wrap the car. Remember wrapping the car with a clear bra wraps and freezes in time any imperfections underneath the wrap.

I cannot wait to hear more about it - how does it hold up to wipers. I am sold on clear bras. My BMW had and the headlights look like new after 6 years!

XPEL Ultimate is a great investment if you have purchased your car and intend to keep it for a long period of time. One key thing is to choose the installer based on reputation and attention to detail and not on price. A poorly done XPEL job can make the car look like crap. The best installers are expensive because they remove a lot of parts before putting the XPEL on to eliminate visible seams. That is super labor-intensive.

If you see the pictures of my job done by Detailing Dynamics, you will see tons of parts that they removed before doing the wrap. That is the only way to illuminate the seams. I priced out a complete wrap on the E63 and the reputable installers charge in the $5000 range for the job. If you just do front end, a pillars, mirrors, rockers and wheel arches it's in the low $2000s. The reduced scope is probably what I will get for the E63 rather than the complete wrap.

The car was offloaded at the port of Baltimore on Janury 3 and should be at the dealer approximately two weeks after that. When it arrives at the dealer I will take delivery immediately and have the car flatbeded to Detailing Dynamics for XPEL and other mods. After those are done I will take the car over to Rockville Centre MB for the Renntech work. Note that the Renntech sport mufflers work with the factory tips.

Will certainly make some videos of the car revving with the Renntech catted Downpipes and sport mufflers.

This is awesome - my car was supposed to be built 2nd decade of Dec, but got held up bc of designo interior, sucks. Then factory closed so now I am waiting for new production date.

That sucks. Designo stuff usually leads to a month delay as it did with my car. Stay on top of it as it should get built soon.

Some of the AMG supply delays are absurd. I have up on forged wheels because Inwas warned they were on backorder and would lead to a multi month delay. So AMGs loss was HRE's gain.

Just heard back - now it's set for 2/10/15 production. Bummer. Never thought it would take 6 months to get a car that doesn't have a waiting list! At least by the time I get it in March most of the crappy DC winter weather will be gone (hopefully)
