News on the E63 S:
The car was offloaded from the ship in Baltimore on January 3. Car will be at the dealership within two weeks.
Getting excited.
No showy delivery for me. Car is being flatbedded to Detailing Dynamics upon delivery for modding.

Detailing Dynamics is hard at work on the 991 Turbo S and is installing the front and rear parking cameras and laser jammers/radar detector. So much hard labor. Here are the pictures of the car's current status.

Geez that is way slow. I bet it was the forged wheels. I was warned that keeping them on my order would push production until February at the earliest -- and this for a September order. That is why I dumped them.

I used to do some of that car-fi work on the side.. remote starter, backup cams, radios, double dins, navi, etc... (in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's)... i kind of miss it but with how complicated current tech is, I'll gladly pay someone to do the work professionally or pay for the OEM feature

Detailing Dynamics continues to make progress on Phase 1 of the mods on my 991 Turbo S as documented in the attached pictures.
They have now installed the laser jammers, front camera and radar antenna in the front of the car. As you will see in the pictures of the front end, from left to right you are looking at: laser head, active cruise control sensor with front camera above, radar antenna and laser head.
Also, the black satin "Porsche 991 Turbo" and yellow colored "S" rear lettering is ready to be installed as you can see from the picture.
The completion date of Phase 1 will be early next week as they ordered the smokers kit from Porsche to give me a more finished look on the console (as well as a cover to go over the control center for the radar/laser). The smoker's kit retrofit pieces arrive Monday.

Your turbo S is sooooo sick. Based on the work they're doing, it seems that detailing place is worth the high cost... hopefully I'll get to see that car someday!

Wheels were not the problem, it was the mystic red designio interior - they said i could dump the interior and go to a standard color and it would have been produced in Dec. Oh well - crap weather right now in DC so don't mind ragging the 550xi through this stuff anyways!

Detaling Dynamics explained that the most common area that gets hit 99.9% of the times first is the middle of the front bumper. And majority of times cops are shooting from a big off center angle.
They told me that they wanted to make sure I was protected for that and also the brand new Dragon Eye gun is a pulsating type of laser there are two heads needed to operate together.

Update: the E63 S will arrive at the dealership tomorrow. That was fast! Taking delivery on Monday. But not driving it off. Am Flatbedding the car to Detailing Dynamics for modding. Then off to Mercedes of Rockville Centre for the Renntech mods.

Another update: GEICO has told me tbat the E63 cannot be insured under its mechanical breakdown insurance. Apparently their prior claim experience with the car was too grear. They said that many AMG cars are locked out of the program.
So in sum, GEICO will insure a $200k Porsche 911 Turbo S for mechanical breakdown but NOT a $100k E63.
So it is looking like Mercedes ELW for me...

I am concerned about getting a warranty for the car. Obviously if the manufacturer shows that a mod directly caused a repair then that repair is not covered. But just because the car is modded does not mean that there is no warranty coverage.

Phase of the modding will end on Tuesday when I am picking up the car. New badging is now on the car's rear and DD has transformed the smoker's package that it added onto the car into the control center for the laser jammers and radar detector complete with laser jammer kill switch, USB port for the USB that transforms the laser jammers into parking sensors and radar detector control center. All of this of now hidden underneath the hinged OEM cover that comes as part of the smoker's package.

Congrats Sdg1871 I admire your patience - I would have a hard time getting all the customization done. I would be way too eager to drive the cars.

Detailing Dynamics has now finished installing the NAV TV front and rear camera and integrated them into the PCM. It works like a charm. Front camera activates when you press the rear defroster button twice. Rear camera activates when you shift into reverse. See the attached video YouTube video of it in operation in my car.
Also, Detailing Dynamics has created a laser/radar control center in the space created by the OEM smoker's kit that it retrofitted to the car (see picture). So hidden under the OEM hinged cover are: (1) a kill switch for the laser jammers; (2) a USB port into which you can place the flash drive that turns the laser jammers into parking sensors; and (3) a control panel for the Belltronics radar detector.
