Three days ago my e63 wouldn't shift from park to reverse, neutral, or drive after startup. This fixed itself after I turned off the car, stepped out, locked and unlocked it again. This issue has now progressed to everytime I sit in the car. Even after I get it into drive, when I get to my destination the car won't shift from drive to park so I have to turn off the car for it to go to neutral, then when I remove the key it goes to park.

I am sending the car in for emergency service today but the dealer claims he has never heard of this happening.
Any others here ever experience this on a w212 e class?

 

The problem has been reported with other owners.

Need a new shift selector module and a SW update.
