Transmission service price looks about right. Brake work looks low. Good front pads should be about 200.00. rear pads about 100.00. front rotors are two piece so unless they must be turned I would not do it. The brake price you show looks to me more like the cost of E350 or E550 brakes.

That's labor only for the brakes, pads or rotors would be additional. They said I can bring my own pads and just pay the labor and they will provide the sensors for a few bucks.

I thought I had read that Ceramics weren't good for performance cars, but reading the description of those they say less heat and less rotor wear and at minimum 1700 for a set of front and rear rotors, I'm all for less rotor wear.

Ceramics are not as good for track but I don't go to track, the stopping distance will be slightly longer until the pads heat up. I have a friend that races his Porsche (which is also a daily driver) at Road Atlanta and he has told me volumes of information on brakes and how they perform on the track. He runs Ceramics on his BMW M3 which he does not take to the track.

What do you think of these? The second ones have feed back from an E63 owner who says they are good.

I don't know anything about either of the two you show from ebay. Can't really say anything until I find more info. Good find though.

Both come from Canada and likely are the same pads IMHO. The cheaper ones do not come with sensors. I asked about the 155 pads and have not heard back since one of the pictures says sensors included if needed.

I ruled out the EBC Reds as everyone seems to say they eat rotors. So that leaves Porterfields or the Disc Italia or these. I don't think Akebono makes pads for this car.

Yes, Akebono does not make pads for the E63. I do use Akebono on my E500 and they are great. I will not need pads for a while so I plan on researching more. My priorities are low dust, low heat, and easy on the rotors. The ones on my car now are oem and the wheels turn black with dust in two days.

Yes, thats why I'm planning to try ceramic. I don't think I need pads for a little bit either, but I think I'll try the ebay ceramic pads. I had pads from Brake Performance and rotors as well on the vette and they worked fine but brake performance only has semi metallic and not ceramic for the e63.

It's good you research on it because I have been wondering about Akebono myself. My only priority is: easy on the rotors.

Thoughts on Wavetrac diff for this car? I've don't think I've ever owned a vehicle without limited slip before and its been driving me crazy that I can't put the full power to the ground. Everytime I step on it hard, it just starts spinning one of the rear wheels. I thought the electronic systems were supposed to approximate a limited slip, but i just seem to get flashing lights telling me the traction control is engaging while going no where fast.

You would think on a 100k premium car, a LSD diff would be standard. But nope. Pathetic on MB's end.

I'm curious about an LSD also. Which one is best? I've seen 2 vendors on here already.

Wavetrac is about 1-200 dollars cheaper and both have lifetime warranties between quaife and wavetrac. I would probably do the wavetrac if I decide to go with it. Both appear to not need any rebuilds at any point as well. I believe from reading that the Wavetrac will still work if one wheel unloads while the Quaife will not. So if one wheel spins on Ice, the Wavetrac will still get power to the other wheel.
