as someone still in the middle of a repair to a vandalized sl55 costing me much more than insurance would cover, I hope they catch the guy. there was probably added damage considering how they jacked it up.
not really funny in any way. they were probably multi-part expensive wheels as well.

Two comments.
First, the real Rat Rod builders often use a 4 x 4 and a 2 x 4 to set ride heights. They build to the 5 inch clearance of the two and when they take the 2 x 4 away the sag is meant to be 1.5" leaving a ride height of 3.5"
Did these guys have a plan to make it into a Rat Rod!!
Second, years ago I was paying my bill in a roof top restaurant in Windsor Ontario and was watching a Z28 pull in on the top deck of the parking garage below beside my car.
I got up, went directly onto the elevator, went down 25 floors and out to the car. The wheels on the Z28 were gone and it was up on crates.
Thieves are even faster today with back pac air packs and impact wrenches so locks are a must.

Clever Theives
Friend of mine had his tires/rims stolen and replaced with bricks. It was a cold night and he woke up early (still dark). He started the car from inside the house, so it would warm up. Walked out (street parking only in his area), got in and put it in drive and nothing happened. After calling OnStar for diagnostics gave up and got out and realized he had no tires. I felt bad for him, but I did laugh a little inside, when he told me.

For some strange reason, car thieves love hospitals. Apparently they believe, rightly so for the most part visitors tend to stay a very long time or never leave in some cases.

Dreadful crime, I feel so sorry for the doctor, Law needs to change where the penalty suits the crime 10fold. Get it repaired Doc. its a beautiful car even though I still love my Mercedes.. Don't know if it would help but there is a lot to be said for motion alarms and also front and rear dash cams that work in park mode, I wonder if the police would be able to catch these low life's if they had the footage of a dash cam?. Good luck doc. with some serious alarm and security system for the future.

It's hard finding people willing to go the extra mile, nowadays. Backpack air packs, wheels -- that's old news. Think a bit out the box. These thieves did not earn their extra credit
