Swap 2014 RS7 for 2016 E63 Wagon? and other questions

I'm looking at a 2016 E63 Wagon optioned as follows

E63S4MS - E63 S 4MATIC Wagon
MAX - Avantgarde Edition Package
ANP - AMG Night Package
IDP - Intelligent Drive Package
736 - Dark Ash Wood Trim
DES3 - designo Exterior Charge - MAGNO
Y41 - designo Black DINAMICA Roof Liner

I've currently got a similarly optioned RS7 and am looking to switch. I don't see the P30 performance package, but isn't that standard on the S, so I'll get an actual LSD?

Also has anyone put a remote car starter on one of these? I'd really like one for winter here when it hits -30C.

From what I was told the "S" versions of the 63s is now the new p30 packages.

I've had the audi for 1.5 years now, getting kinda bored of it. I also REALLY like the look of the E63 Wagon, more so than the audi.

I used to own a 2011 SL63 and really enjoyed that car. I'm happy to see my two favourite features are in this new wagon, massaging seats and a heated steering wheel (I know the SL didn't have a heated wheel, but my 550xi did)

Some of the tradeoffs will be, no Rosstech VAGCOM support (which is awesome for changing car settings/behaviour as well as resetting MIL/Oil change interval/etc lights) and having to suck oil through the dipstick tube. Supposedly you get more oil out this way, but I'm an old fashioned kind of guy and like the whole undoing of the drain plug bit. Finally I'll have no labour guides for doing anything. Not that I had any with the RS7. I take all my stuff to an indie shop so it's kinda nice to know what to expect.

Also for a turbo upgrade, does anyone know if the engine has to come out? or a ballpark on the labour time to do it?

You must be Europe or something? You were asking about limited slip with the P30 and the US version is awd and has no P30 option anymore, I believe the Europe Version is still just RWD. Yes, I believe the engine does have to be pulled for the turbo upgrade.

No I'm in Canada. I was wondering with P30 if you'd get a proper LSD or an open diff with the 4matic system.

I did some researching on the MB website and it says the car does come with a LSD.

Yes, AWD is LSD and no P30 available anymore, it is called the S model and that is the same and better than P30 of the 12's and 13's as they are now rated @577 hp vs 550 hp, upped the boast a little bit over the P30's.

2012 e63 Wagon
Does anyone know what it would entail to retrofit a 2012 or 2013 e63 wagon w/ the P30 Performance Package (engine only)? Looking at a few that do not have it as they are so few and far between. Hoping I'm not limited by that as I want the power obviously. Want to say it is just engine management software but not sure what else is involved. Thanks in advance for any input.

Yes, according to the following thread, the engine has to come out for the turbo upgrade.

The dealer that I got my GL550 from once told me that a remote starter can be installed in that particular car. I am not sure if it's only the GL-class or any Mercedes. I would say that it should apply to any Mercedes since the Keyless-go system should be the same. I also remember that the service adviser claims that you would need to purchase an additional key to the car, so that would be extra cost on top of the starter system. You may want to approach your dealer to see if this is true as I never pursued it any further.

Man I would not! I do not know if it is bad luck or what but MB is treating me like crap, granted this is my first MB, but man my AMG 2015 with "all the software updates" still a nightmare! not only more software bugs than a colander, but bad transmission, lag on acceleration and gear changes, mediocre suspension and the list goes on and on. just does not compare to the RS, nor to any of the other top of the line cars I own and driven.

Audi never put a V12 into the RS6. The C6 was a 5.0 TT V10 developed for Lambo... And if Audi had put a V12 in their cars, it would likely have been inferior on performance measures to the V8s, as has always been the case among the AMG V12s.

And look at all reviews: the C7 RS6 Avant is an amazing car, but lacks the edge of the W212 E63 S wagon. The Audi is slower (slightly), heavier steering, and has less room in the boot. So no: the E63 S wagon is the greatest all-around car in the world. And when the horrible little 4.0 liter engine goes in, it'll be less than it is now with the M157 5.5l. Amazing the C7 can put out such fierce figures with that size of engine.

That said, I have always been a major fan of the RS6 Avant; such great exterior looks, and performance to fear. Ever since the C5 was n/a in the US, I was writing to AOA to bring that bad-boy state-side. I even explored 1-time DOT exclusions, etc. But that is a tough road, so to speak. I work by the old Audi corp showroom on Park Ave in NYC and used to go in on a regular basis telling them how stupid AOA is to miss the super wagon market. All the while I was enjoying V70R (awd + MT!) or E63 (rwd) wagons, but still dreaming of the RS6 Avant. Now that MB has set the standard, I would find it difficult to ever swap-out of this.

My wife's RR is coming off lease this summer... I will be calling AOA for the chance to replace that pig with another sweet wagon.

2016 AMG S65, AMG GL63, 2012 AMG E63 With AMS Alpha 9 Package, Renntech 200 Catted Downpipes.
First decide if you like the preface ( 2012-2013 ) AMG E63 which was optioned with the P30 as well as LSD. If you like the facelift E63S, then yes it replaced the prefaced optioned P30.

I don't know about Canada, but my S65 with night vision and drivers assist that helps you back into parking space is useless. Used it maybe 3 times for the 4 months ownership.

Yes you can get an aftermarket auto start, which also lets you input you Navigate and watch a DVD while the car is in motion.

If you are thinking about a turbo upgrade, the engin does need to come out as does the front bumper. It's actually less work to have the engine out than trying to remove and reinstall your turbos.

Good luck with your choice.

I had the V10 RS6 and it was a great car. Unfortunately, I was driving back from a business trip in the early hours of the morning and fell asleep. I hit a power pole and broke the engine block.... After that I almost got the current C7 RS6 but being a second hand bargain hunter the CLS63 here are a much better value proposition for a low mileage buy.
