0 for 2 on AMG Hood Badges

Grrr..

I've been trying to replace the stock flat MB hood badge on my 2015 E63 with an Affalterbach crest. After two attempts, still unable to find one that fits properly.

The first attempt was a 45mm metal badge, a very nice quality piece, but it really is a replacement for the hood ornaments in pre-facelift models, rather than the flat badge in the 2014+. Given the small size, it fits poorly inside the badge opening, and the mounting hardware doesn't match.

The second attempt was a plastic badge from eBay. I was quite excited when it arrived as it looked like a match, but the mounting hardware measurements were just slightly off, and ultimately it didn't fit.

Fortunately, both vendors refunded my purchase price, so I'm not out of pocket, but I've had to give up at this point.

Has anyone been able to source an AMG badge that works well on the post-facelift models?

i have 2014 and found one on ebay from china that fits our cars (57mm). I received mine yesterday and looks good on my car... as with anything from china, i had to modify it a little to make it fit

Why not cut off and grind flat the hardware and mount with some 3m double sided adhesive tape?

AMG Affalterbach for SLK SL E C s Class S55 C32 Hood Front Bonnet Emblem Badge 2 | eBay
That's the one I bought! How come yours worked?!?

The clip mechanism didn't fit, and after I modified that, there wasn't enough clearance between the clip and the badge itself to
'grab' the hood.
Perhaps more testimony to the build quality of these items - maybe mine was just a dud?

Hmm. I'll have to take another look and see if that would work.
I'm not sure it will as the hood has a divot where the badge goes, and the badge is convex. There might not be enough contact area for them to stick with double-sided tape.

I'd have to see some pics to better understand it but if there is a gap, you can build the tape up on itself to fill the void. 3M as I'm sure you know makes a wide variety of kick butt adhesives (already used all over our cars) and something is sure to fit the script. Peruse to find a variety of widths, thicknesses and types: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...utomotive+tape

That AMG flat badge didn't fit on my pre-facelift either. I just put on the MB emblem flat badge....it fits perfectly.

That's where I am now. Still on the stock flat Mercedes badge.
At one point - to avoid refunding my money, the eBay seller suggested I just stick the AMG crest over top my stock badge.

You guys inspired me to take another shot at it.

I separated the clip mechanism from the base, and put a couple layers of double-sided tape in between to create some space, and got it to clip into the hood. Stuck the emblem on, and everything's now on the car!

Thanks!

...it would have been nice if they just made the piece so it would fit properly...
