2015 E63 Wagon
2015 E63 wagon new purchase advice

Hello to everyone. I am looking to pull the trigger on an E63 wagon. I found a brand new 2015 that is spec'd exactly as I wish. The sticker is a touch over 112k. I have them down to 98.5. This will be a lease, but I am not opposed to buying if the deal makes sense. Lease terms are as follows: 36/10. MF of .00230. 52% residual. Monthly payment comes in around 1600 including California tax. 2500.00 down. I would love to hear your thoughts. The sale price seems fair to me, but the monthly lease payment seems pretty high for 98k car. Looking forward to hearing from you all, and thank you in advance for the time.

That's a heck of a great deal. I would just buy it. I was all set to buy one last summer, but decided to wait for the 2017's and keep driving my 2012 for a while longer yet.

Are you saying that it's a better idea to buy than lease?

In my opinion it's never a good idea to lease unless you can do a business write off

This will definitely be used as a write off, and I generally only like to keep cars for 3-4 years. The 52% residual may also work out in the long run. The buyout would be 51k. Hopefully the car will be worth a bit more than that. I am seeing 2012's selling in the 60's with low miles. I realize that it will be an old body style at that point, but I still think that it will hold up.

These cars always plummet in value, just part of the deal for the privilege of driving an awesome beast. I saw my 2012 for sale in the low 60's last summer, does not mean they are gonna get that. Went to 3 dealers, they were all talking between 47K and 50K on the trade in for a 2016. So don't count on the car holding it's value. Maybe whereas you are gonna write it off try to get a 2 year lease and just turn it in at that time for a 2017 or '18. That would be my advice. It's still unknown when the 2017's amg wagons are gonna come out, the sedans early next summer for sure, but the wagons could even be a year after that. Nobody really knows yet. I'm just playing the waiting game myself. The other option would be to score a really good deal on a used 2012 for around 55K or less and drive that a couple years until the 2017 wagons are out, you wont get hurt as bad in value that way, of course you won't be driving a new car now.

I agree with everything said here. Still curious what you all think about the 98.5 for a 112k Msrp car. Seems like a good deal.

It's a good deal, they are just trying to get rid of it because the 16 s have been out for a while now. If you plan to keep the car long term go for it and get mb 7 year 100k warrantee and keep the car 6.5 years so your selling it with some warrantee left. I find keeping a car longer term is a lot more easy vs dealing with sales every three years, stretching it to 6.5 years keeps life more simple and still driving an awesome car.

14 e63s wagon
Sirs,
Wouldn't the 52% residual be based on the 112,000 msrp ,not the 98k making it $58,240?

Good question. I am pretty sure that the salesman said it was based on the 98.5, but I will definitely double check.

So easy to get screwed on a lease with all the detailed stuff I've found. I just stay clear of leases after a lot of bad experiences.
