Sorry on hear that. Although on my car the battery didn't matter, it is really unlikely that both keys would go bad. Good luck on the diagnoses and resolution of the issues. These really are enjoyable cars when they are properly sorted!

I would expect that a car like this will be sorted out from the factory, and then given real check with software updates and known fixes before the car is delivered. After all we are not dealing with state of the art of electronics here compare to other brands.


My time is money, and if MB cant figure that out they are dumb, the more time I spend at the dealer and screwing around the less time I have to make money and buy more cars from them...

Scary as hell I and the mechanic could not believe his eyes either. But I have driven cars with out all the electronics just glad that the gears, break, steering and accelerator keep working.


How do you go about a lemon law buy back? I am not the kind of guy that likes sue people. Who in the dealership should I talk? The owner? Or start with the service manager?

i mean, compared to your basic Accord yeah these cars are gonna have a lot more go wrong with them. there's A LOT to go wrong afterall, considering that i'd say these cars are relatively reliable and i honestly think it's asking quite a lot to have 100% nothing go wrong ever. this car has already had a few bugs with it but it's all just been software gremlins that got sorted with a 'software update' from the dealer. oh and the auxiliary battery went kaput (official AMG terminology)

but yea the juddery acceleration from low speeds is just something that'll happen, nothing really to do about it. yours sounds like it's especially mercedes though.

it should work i agree, especially considering the pricetag and the amount of r and d and $$$ that benz puts into their cars it should all work. but when you use the same technology for your cruise control that's used to guide an ICBM lol you're gonna run into issues.

cars like this are cutting edge and very finicky, my LS isn't particularly full of features, so more time can be spent absolutely perfecting what it has, instead of just trying to put as many things as possible into it. and its been absolutely rock solid its entire life. fewer problems in 17 years than the E63 has had in under 2 lol...

 

i'm jewish and he's probably not wrong lol... we jews have a way of being incredibly unlucky yet lucky at the same time haha. we're very resilient and can generally roll with the proverbial punches. i'm not saying the car is programmed to be antisemitic (although...) but if you're a jew then in general you'd probably have more problems with your luxury car than another, just the way things happen to work out, i've seen it happen lol.

I was one of the first GTR owners, when people kept repeating that stupid journalists comment about GTR's not having a soul. I honestly never understood what that meant, or why anybody could think that. People would walk up to me and say "why did you buy that car, it has no soul".... This would make me furious because they had never driven one. I've never owned a car more exhilarating to drive then my R35. We loved it so much, we kept it for 3 years... 2 years longer than any other car I've ever owned.

After I bought my M6, I had a ridiculous urge to make it as fast and loud as possible. No matter what I did, I never could fall in love with it. It lacked something, and I could never figure out what. Don't get me wrong, after Eurocharged did the EC820 kit, it was the quickest car I had ever driven, just slightly slower than their 730hp TT R8..... But one day, my wife took out the M6, and when she came home, I asked her how she liked it.... Her response was epic: "it feels really comfy, refined, and ridiculously fast, but it lacks soul!"

That was the answer I was looking for, no soul. And I took the car apart the next day and listed it for sale the following week, and ordered myself a GTS.

Ther is no other feeling like owning/driving an AMG with some exhaust work and a tune. For this reason, I will own one for the rest of my life.

David, if you need other negatives..... The Bluetooth in that car is GARBAGE... Streaming is horrible, I hate the service at the dealership, steering feel is numb, lack of auto close trunk is more annoying than you think, lacks excitement, and don't ever spill anything in the trunk, it will smell forever.

Only positives - most comfortable car ever, amazing B & O audio system.

My GTS was supposed to land February 1st, but I got a call last Saturday telling me it's going to be here on December 28th..... So excited!

End of rant.

 

My wife is constantly finding issues that bug her..such as yesterday finding that voice command for calling a number will not function for either of our voices. We have had two incidents with the keyless go. Neither key worked. Had to be reprogrammed at MB. Rear wiper motor froze up, requiring replacement. Nothing too serious, but annoying for an expensive car.

 

You obviously have not been in a more recent Honda/Toyota Accord/Camry huh?
they seriously have over 90% of the tech in the current MBs. Ok so the power is not all that, handling is so so compared to the more recent AMGs, the rest of the car is loaded with electronics some of which MB did not employ

As I report in my own thread, my 2015 E63 S has had a bulletproof drivetrain but lots of smaller problems:

Some got fixed, the dealer did a "full" upgrade. But there are still rattles, vibration at start and one side od the car stiffer than the other, but to me what it is most important is that now the engine tick like can of coins now and then I can't reproduce it at will as well as the all systems off while driving.


It would be good to start a thread where all 2014-15-16 owners posted how they got their software updates, transmission issues and any other glitch fixed...


It is ridiculous that MB will not deliver the latest software and fixes automatically when you visit the dealer and that they make you come back over and over as you discover problems that they knew about it.
I swear I do not know why but I do not experience the same issues with my Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati and Audi dealers. To start with even my most finicky Ferrari is more reliable than this AMG then everyone by MB updates parts and software with me not even knowing about a the problem. the other Day I stopped to say high to the guys at Porsche, the service manager told me if I had 20-30 minutes I thought they were going to wash my car as usual. the installed an engine management upgrade 12 more ponies, and about 1-2 MPG better!
This is crazy! Why MB-AMG would not take care of its customers the same way!
The other day I took the car to the MB dealer with a full tank of gas, I got it almost empty! yeah $60 buck will not brake my bank account but really you want me to fill up my loaner's tank while the dealer does not? I am taking an expensive car to get repaired; they have it for a week while I am driving a cheap and underpowered loaner. Man I wish there was another dealer on the area. Seriously thinking to sell this. My lawyer sent a letter to MBUSA he got BS...just not worth it.... I am thinking to take a trip to Oregon from Seattle and see if they fix it.
Will call them next week.

 

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the dealer switch will result in better service. I'm impressed by your Porsche service department. They really seem to go above and beyond. I've had good experience with our local dealer, but would be amazed if they would flag an unscheduled upgrade flash. Best wishes in finding a solution to the challenges with your wagon!
