and datalogs prove otherwise on the cooling system being up to task on tuned 5.5TT for multiple runs ( yeah for a few highway pulls its fine, but at the track with lots of runs different story)... with the ams system my IATs dropped 30f at redline and WOT vs stock readings... at cruising rpms (2500-3000) IATs dropped around 65 F.....that's huge and makes a huge difference on how long before my car will pull timing
I've raced a tuned sls before and walked him no problem,,,, sounds like you need to upgrade your cooling, or look under that SLS's hood because the numbers dont add up if you have a 127mph timeslip but cant beat a car that max's at 121-125 mph 1/4 mile depending on level of mods (absent of a wiestec s/c or nitrous shot)

The owner of one of the most famous AMG tuners in the US told me when I was considering my mods that a cooling upgrade on the post 2013 M157 engines (the ones where engine cooking is divorced from turbo cooling) is unnecessary unless you are getting the turbo upgrade -- and he makes and sells them.

do you have the renntech downpipes? from what i undestand renntechs are just downpipes but still stock turbo pipes. so only 15 hp...
so . still should pull on a stock sls. since sls should only be about 480 whp.
with tune should be about 100 whp more than him.
whos saying they NEED AWD???
im in canada. and we get loads of snow. absolutely NO NEED for AWD. with winter tires of course. (get michelin pilot alpin - AMAZING TIRES!!)
unless you care about 0-60 time in the snow. plus awd doesnt help you slowing down or stopping. lol.

Guys. From what I've read. The E63 has about 4,700 pounds vs the SLS has about 3,700 pounds so less horsepower should make up the difference.

I agree the weight should play a major factor here ... What's the rule of thumb... 10hp/tq per 100lbs? Also I wouldn't be surprised if the sls is geared more aggressively

tune only sls are putting down around 510 awhp and weight 3700 lbs so .137 power to weight ratio
they are equal, so runs should be fairly equal on highway pulls and actually more in the e63's favor if starting from a stop or at slow speed rolling start in 1st gear since lighter rwd sls will hook much worse than the awd e63 when stomping in the throttle
the timeslips from drag times dont lie, and prove this to be true.... all other "he said/ she said..." comments are purely anecdotal and just hearsay without proof

I've had PA4's on my RWD and hated them. The car doesn't go anywhere. And AWD is a must if you live in snowy regions. It snows 6 times all winter in Toronto, and plowed within hours. So I'm ok, but just 2 hrs north of the city, it snows every other day.

we have a lot of snow and i have no problems.
im not sure which tires PA4's are. but mine are called Michelin pilot alpin (brand new)... i dont know if theres a number after it...
if you get these tires you will be fine in any snow conditions. within reason, ..ie, not 12 inchs of snow unplowed. as long as the bottom of the car has clearance. no problems.
