Bummer dealer won't replace my v burned headlights
I'm still under extended MB warrantee, 4 year factory warrantee ran out a month ago 
. Anybody get headlights replaced under extended MB Warrantee? Maybe I should check other dealers.?

I would try it through another SA/Manager or different dealer. This is a know problem ( print a copy one of several thread here on the tropic ) and show it to them.

The dealer claims it happened because they headlights were coated with the clear 3m bug guard protector as was the rest of the nose of the car, this was done before I bought the car used. I really doubt it has anything to do with it as so many others have had the same thing happen. You can see the V both when the headlights are on or off, it's not really bad, but noticeable. I guess I'll try Ft. Myers next and see if they will do anything for me.

Find a couple of thread on here and show it to the dealer. Clear coat is outside of the headlight lens and the V mark are burned on the inside.

its interesting with my first set i think it was after 2 yrs is when the Vs got burned in . I think ichanged teh lights about a yr ago now, and so far its ok, but im sure eventually it will happen

Yes, it can be cleaned as I said way above. Basically, they place a microfiber small bag with magnets inside it into the headlamp. Then, from the outside you use another magnet to pull the baggie around the lens.
Since OP's car is CPO(I believe) headlights are NOT covered under CPO for replacement. This is a fact. I do not know weather this cleaning procedure is covered or not.

The "cleaning" didn't work on my headlights. With the headlights on, I could see the "v" within a month of the cleaning.
My SA says they'll replace the headlight lenses if the "v" becomes visible with the lights off.

Keep in mind mercedes has also stated this was a problem with the design of the plastic and it WILL happen again. There is no permanent fix and the plastic has been updated/corrected on the facelift model.

V with lights off
Here's my V with lights off. I agree it's very sad looking when the car is clean and these are visible. Hoping to either get these replaced or "cleaned" before i take in for final service under factory warranty in the coming months. I forgot to add that i do not have any coating on the front of my car or on the lens.

Wow, those look worse than mine, mine are much more faint. I guess I'll try another dealer and see what they say. I had a similar problem with this same dealer when the whole glass piece in front of the sunroof shattered for no reason and they said no even under the factory warrantee, another dealer up north replaced the piece under warrantee no problem.

Is this "cleaning kit" available to purchase by an owner? It doesn't sound like a difficult process.
If doing it a couple times per year keeps the lenses from being ruined, maybe it should be part of the spring and fall detailing job...
