1/4 tank of gas, cold night, spare/jack removed, front seat removed, etc. etc.

My stock E550 felt like a mid-12 car some days but others it felt like a NA piggie. But maybe it was one of those magical runs that can’t be replicated over and over. No way it’s a low 12 car.

I miss it, but if not for it getting totaled I wouldn’t have the current money pit.. I mean awesome AMG sitting in the driveway!

yeah, without a time slip and/or a video, i'm calling BS if it's a stock car. If it did run a 12.5(and exhaust, etc is all stock) it HAS to have a tune already. I'd hate to see someone pay for a tune when they already had one... I know I'd be pissed...

Could have a K&N, you know those are good for at least a half second!

We have a few S550s and even GLs making a tick over or under 500 WHP and there have been almost no issues thus far (and no durability issues), with many, many hard miles on them.
what tunes where done ie ecu tcu and mods. Do tell.

Hey guys. With 3" cat-less MBH downpipes(3" pipe and 3 chamber mufflers), an off the shelf EC 93 Octane tune and an ECATX TCU tune, I run 11.7 @ 118mph. (Stock E63s equivalent)
On a fully custom ECU Tune with better fuel, I run 11.3 @ 122mph.
Only other real mod I have is the AMG In-Tank Fuel Pump, but that is not necessary for the 93 OTS tune.

Power limit on the stock E550 turbos is about 700hp. It is estimated that I am Making about 675-685HP (585-590 at the wheels) and well over 750lb/ft (670-685 @ wheels)when on "Kill" tune. Hoping to get some good fuel soon and make a dyno run. Maybe next month I'll be able to strap her down and get some real numbers.

Let me know if you want to know anything else.

Can you tell me a bit more about the custom tune?

I have 12' coupe and just did a custom straight pipe exhaust and with some better filters and a wiestec tune and I feel my car isnt as fast as it should be. I need to get on a dyno to see whats going on but im wondering if you have anything other than a custom tune and down pipes installed to net the 580whp? I'm hoping to be at that range myself but im nowhere near that number at the moment.

Thx for any input

boostedbenz, if after spending that kind of money having weistec do the tune, and you don’t notice a difference either you had the worlds biggest moron tune it OR, your out of your mind. What kind of “12”’ is it? E? M? S? CLS? Etc.,... why don’t you try and get a 0-60 run baseline from your phone (accurate within .01 thousands of a seconds) first, spend the $10 and do what the app tells you to do with your phone when testing And then compare to your time to stock, times.

I find it really like really really hard to believe if Wiestec did the tune that somehow your getting marginal HP but more TQ, with those bi-turboed engines. That’s insane. You should be at half second to full second faster and trust me you’d notice that your grandma would notice it.

-hey but keep me posted. Curious as to the Tune setup. I ran the ML (also a 2012’ and had a Renntech tune) stock 1/4m in 12.3, and 12.57 all day long at 111.5mph.

-When I had the renntech tune installed and mated to the ECU and TCU it ran 11.7’s and 8’s all freaking day and until the son came up and it would still want to do runs. My 0-60 times where anywhere between 4.1 -4.3 VERY CONSISTENTLY stock. TUNE - 3.6’s - 3.75’s all day long. Now to put a full seconds gain into perspective and why you haven’t gotten at least a half second faster with your Weistec tune means you bought car from someone who told you had one and didn’t. Or the tune is so bad or setup incorrectly and there is a problem and you should take it back to Weistec right now. GL dude.

a whp at rear in dyno of 580 is incredible for that engine a little over stock. That Weistec tune I believe puts you above stock numbers of 560-590 torque respectively at 700bhp and 770ftlbstq. If I’m not mistaken. And actually the renntech stage 2 which was the last one to offer tunes only and what I had was ridiculous torque and upped numbers (never dynoed) what they claimed to be a 730bhp and 800ft lb TQ, and that’s at 22psi I believe. Cannot remember. So it’s a good idea to remind yourself maybe even go to church and humble yourself to actuality realize how freaking fast that Weistec tune is on a coupe it’s probably even faster. But most mercs are really heavy the ML63 was around 5900curb weight I believe and ran stock 4.2 0-60 and high 12’s! It wil blow the doors off of 99.1% of anything it comes across to eat that particular day at a stop light. Cheers buddy gl and keep us all posted.

maube post a video of the thing doing it’s thing. I’d be curious to watch the tech and speedometer I know exactly what the shift points and speed looks like. (I have a good memory and miss that ML63 so bad). Might have to buy another one soon.

a few people like Matt are getting EC eflex tunes or going e85 on the M278. I'm really excited to see what they can do. It should be a monster on ethanol. I would guess a few tenths behind an m157 on similar platform.
