Ugh, so I got the G1WC-B(lack) in and I regret not going with the smaller A118-C.

Try mounting it behind your rear view mirror.

I agree it looks pretty big. Could always send it back to Amazon since they have free returns.

I don't think I'll ever run one... but... after my wife got harassed and scared sh*&less in traffic on 285 in Atlanta twice... She's pretty... blonde... drives a nice ML350 on 22" AMG wheels... and commutes like an hour + each way....

More than once guys have seen her and cut her off... slowed down in front of her...etc... I won't go into detail but it scared her so much that she came home crying. You can picture the kind of idiot that would do it.

So I got one of these and put it in her car:
Amazon.com: BOOMYOURS 2.7" TFT 270°Rotating Dual Camera Lens HD Car DVR Vehicle Blackbox DVR with G-sensor & GPS Module & SD Slot (Size-A1, Black): Car Electronics Amazon.com: BOOMYOURS 2.7" TFT 270°Rotating Dual Camera Lens HD Car DVR Vehicle Blackbox DVR with G-sensor & GPS Module & SD Slot (Size-A1, Black): Car Electronics

She didn't like it at first... but now it's just there. And I'm REALLY impressed with what it does. The GPS association with the imaging is impressive.

I'm sure there's better stuff out there but for our purpose and what its for, for $60, it's a win.

And yes... I tinted her windows down to 20% too.

You're not worried because you never do anything wrong, or because you don't think anyone will know that you have it unless you mention it first?

The vast majority of USA drivers have no idea what a dashcam is/looks like.
I would only use the footage when it benefits me.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Instead of that useless NightVision, MB should just have a camera in its place that loop records automatically and include all the useful infos, ie GPS coordinates.

I just installed my A118-C

My front windshield is not tinted -so I took the rain sensor plastic cover off and installed it next to it.

There was a huge gray cover on the rain sensor. Now it sits behind the rear view mirror but in reach of my hand to press record -if I want a certain

section to be recorded and stored away.

I have set it to 5 min segments instead of 3 min. Video is set to FHD 1080p -that's the highest it goes.

I did not order GPS or anything because my car already has a Pioneer avic-140bh -so I can pinpoint anything I want on it.

This is like one of those things that you have for safety but hope that you never end up in a situation like that.

Someone recently hardwired their radar detector to the rear view mirror power source so I would assume that would be an option.

Ran the wire down the sun visor , around the weather blocker (or whatever it's called ) next to windows, under the matt and into the front lighter socket.

Wire is no where to be seen other than ofcourse when you sit in the car and look at the lighter socket.

Still prefer to have the DC socket in the glovebox instead of an open ashtray cover.

The blackvue and probably most cameras, give you the option to toggle whether or not the mph is shown in the video. Default is on, but I turned it off

Yes to the dash cam. I bought the Rexing three months ago and it has worked like a champ. I bought it for my wife's ML, but there was not a good place to mount it (the dash cam, not my wife), so I used it in the E63. Love it. $99 and pretty bullet proof. I used 3M VHB tape to solve the issue with the stock tape lasting just a few days in Texas heat.

I may upgrade to a rear camera as well, just getting used to using it and this one is really easy to take off the windshield when you don't want it hanging out there for all to see.

I wonder if a 5 inch strip of tint at the top of the windshield and just a small hole cut for the lens would work?

anyone want to chime in on there fave rear cams? I was just rear-ended AGAIN (once every other year for sure) and I feel like a rear cam is more important than a front cam now. The blackvue is still working great.

I'm thinking this too. Two years ago I was sitting at a red light when a drunk kid rammed (no skidmarks) his POS dodge into my pristine R129 SL500 Silver Arrow (38000 miles) and totaled it. I spent the night in the ER and two weeks of oxy. He ran away. Lost my beautiful car... sad.

I had the top down ( was out to view the Perseid meteor shower} so how would I mount camera ?

I did get a front camera after watching that meteor in Russia a few years ago. I was wondering how there were so many you tube videos of the meteor because I did not know most folk in Russia have cameras because... then I spent weeks watching "russian dash cam" car crashes.... the horror ! So I got one.

It seems they attract bad drivers. I have never seen ( or noticed ) so many bad drivers since I mounted my camera !

Bought a 2001 SL600 with the insurance settlement , but very much miss my silver arrow.

I don't carry a gun... everyone should say, " ... Thanks a lot, pete! "

The world is full of drunks, but nice cars are rare.

I have a Blackvue as well. Mine also has the rear camera (some models have it, some don't).

Dashcams are a dime a dozen. I have had cheaper ones, but they tend to crap out soon. The BlackVue is more expensive, but I think you get what you pay for. Mine is still working great (both front and rear cams).

One day on the way home from work, a train hit a semi truck trailer directly behind me. Nobody was hurt. I was excited to pull the video from my dash cam (had a rear cam too) when I got home. To my dismay, the dash cam had crapped out before that and I had no video. That was when I replaced it with a BlackVue!

Here is a pic I took of the event from my phone...a video would have been awesome. Moral: Don't buy a cheap dash cam!
