A different thread got me thinking... Is it possible to have a dealer flash a P30 tune on a non p30 car?

I plan on going with Weistec/AMS once the CPO warranty expires, but can the dealer flash a p30 ecu tune on a non p30 car?

Search didn't return anything.

OP. Sorry, the P30 is not only HP/TQ gains. But no, dealer can not flash the gains.

I swear the dealer must have done a tune on my car last I had it in for the 40K mile trans service, the car seems so much faster since then, Maybe they gave me a Tune for free cause they thought I was a good guy . Maybe it was just the trans reset or whatever, just real strange how much more responsive the car feels since the trans service, strange.

Prolly the tcu reset like you said and some placebo but if it makes you feel a difference ... That's all that matters

A P30 vs none P30. Once it is tuned, the HP/TQ will be more on both cars. It'll look and break better for th P30.

It was my understanding that both cars (P30 and non p30) will come out to the same HP/TQ once flashed, you just have less of a gain on a p30 because you start out with a slightly more aggressive tune.

I could be incorrect but occasionally there are software updates applied that could make a difference. I had a similar experience with the CLA45 at one point and believe it was a software update that was applied to more effectively manage the turbo issue they were having.

I am wondering about what a dealer could do on a non S version or non P package version. In reading on the '14 and newer the difference between the 2 appear to be increasing boost levels - the dealer couldn't do this? I am asking the question versus making a statement as it seems setting boost levels might be something a dealer could do?

Yes, once flashed by tuners like Renntech or AMS. The P30 will only have better braking, CF engin cover, steering wheel.

I think they must have flashed my 2012 with a update to manage the turbos better or something because it's a night and day difference with throttle response now.

Most likely an update to the Ecu or tcu... Or mct software... A new tcu update came out about a year ago perhaps you received that, also an Ecu update that came out about that time

Per the info listed in bulletins sections nothing about turbo management but had to do with mct and trans behavior

I believe they updated your TCU. I had mine update a while back and I felt the difference.
