Craziest damage EVER to a rear alloy wheel on my 2012E63!
Here u go all u AMG gear heads. Just brought my e63 in for a new set of tires/ Conti's 5', Michelin Sports as u all know don't make a 285 so wanted to stay OEM. As my tire dealer put my car on the rack I had him check all rims before taking them off for new tires and here's what WE saw. Major damage on inside of rim!!! The photos u see look like gray shadows however those are huge ridges that pop up like about 1/4 inch. He said in 25 years he's never seen a rim with this type of damage. Looks like some type of warping from heat. Obviously didn't mount tires until I get a new rear rim. MB dealer outside of Chicago ordered a new rim. Only 3 available in the whole country. Dealer said of course MB will warranty it even though I bought tire and wheel package. Took the car right to dealer and got a loaner. Luckily nothing happened while driving it in the past. Could have been a catastrophic accident had that compromised wheel collapsed. Would love to know the reaction when the MB rep sees this wheel. Will let u know when I get my e63 back. 2012 with only 26,000 miles bought new. Brilliant silver with char leather and p30 package. Carbon fiber trim and red brake calipers. Vibration was not as bad as u would think. Actually had vibration above 80 from front tire that had a bad thread. It would not balance up as I had it on a hunter machine and the up and down movement of tire caused the front end to vibrate. Am anxious to get car back with new rim and all new tires. Wish I could have gotten Mich-SS.
. No, tracked? U mean did I drive it like 99% of, I think most AMG owners. Hard but I take care of my cars like very few. I'm meticulous about ALL my cars! Fourth AMG AND first one was the famous E500. 1994 that was built partially by Porsche. Yes of course it's an OEM rim. Came on car as I said I bought it NEW. ALWAYS keep ALL my cars stock. Never ever do I want to go to war with MB on warranty issues. Bought extended warranty and tire and wheel ins. package.

Ya, these wheels are very soft, everybody should thoroughly inspect the them at ever tire change, I bent all 4 rims on my 2012 last spring and it did not take too much.

Well just got off phone with my dealer. That rear alloy was fixed by a local wheel repair in Chicago as it was slightly curbed last year. As I said I have the tire and wheel warranty package. Seems whatever genius worked on that wheel milled down the inside of the rim and took it down obviously beyond where it should be. This compromised the integrity of the alloy itself. Now the dealer has to fight with the company that services damaged wheels. Of course that originally was ok'd and paid by the company I bought the warranty from! Either way someone is responsible and it's not me. Paid enough for car and warranty.

Only when I was ready to buy new tires would that option ever be open to me. Not to be disrespectful BUT if you're questions are a typical on this site then I'M DONE. Question. According to your log, your never on the forum or contributing. We are so going to miss you. Peter has help me so much going from BMW to AMGs, who are you to say otherwise. My boy like to comment on forums, the more people he helps, the more people appreciate him.
